Description
Deep focus shot.Wind blowing through trees in the orchard
Blossoms aloft
The spirit of something shifts within sans mouvement – sans.
Cut to: Old Man sitting in the top of a tree
Seen and unseen
Thus: the man in the brown macintosh loves somebody who is dead.
(Cloudy skies portending rain) gloomy
V.O. You once loved…
Thus: his Majesty the King loves her Majesty the Queen.
These modern times
Purple robes in absentia
Diamond cuff links will have to do.
The wink of a grey eye.
Thus: Mrs. Norman W. Tupper loves Officer Taylor.
(Nobody knows we’re here.)
(Here we will not have to be quiet.)
Camera tilt down a long long leg.
Are you in the mood?
Thus: Tony Calabrese loves the woman in the red dress
Who rides the subway every day
In the morning.
Panning shot her shoulders
The line of her neck
Nothing comes close.
Thus: You love a certain person
(Is everything I have to give you not enough?)
And this person loves that other person
(Go on, take my mind and soul and body)
Because everybody loves somebody
(I won’t be needing them anymore, not anymore, not where I’m going)
But God loves everybody.
In the morning temporarily adrift on a raft of bed sheets
Memory faded
Do you know what happened last night?
Oh yes.
Shot-reverse.
Perspective sound: the Gymnopedies.
My father raped me
When I came dizzily home from kissing the boy who projected the film
And I left somehow
Don’t know how
Don’t want to know how
I couldn’t hear.
Nobody believed? Cared nobody, body.
My empty sky
So I drove
(All morning? All that grey dawn that was mine only
Across the city across the towns into no-man’s land)
Belonging to no-one.
Theramin rising subtly in the background.
Eventually I found a statue of my mother in Westminster
Hacked it to pieces.
Except it looked like me, Marilyn Monroe
And then I couldn’t see.
Fade into black.
Dizz-dizz-fizzydizz
Swirl to the margaritas and the sequins
Red laughing lipstick
Like there’s no tomorrow
As long as she’s here with him
There never will be
The mind does not go that far in the future.
Maybe now I could just drop down through the white
Every morning I am closer to where the edge careens off
And maybe you do not even imagine
How huge is this sky
How big is this space inside of me.
You could never know
How the sun setting over the hills look to me
How I feel, singing those Eddie Vedder lyrics
In the stillness of four in the afternoon.
Suicide is not an act of violence.
In the morning.
In absentia.
White cliffs
Maiiwalala maiilono waiifaona.

Well, I came back and read this again, and thought I was commenting on it for the first time, and you know what?
I wrote almost the exact same thing that I said the last time I tried that. Funny how that works.
In conclusion: you are a lovely poet and should certainly post here more often.

I have a poem by that name... It's quite different, though.

It's not on yet. I'll have to dig it out of my collection (Check out deviation "My Life's Work" to get an idea of how tough that will be).

no, very good. it seems like one of those sublime lucid states of departure from the normal kind of mind.. a daze and a high in a way except somehow it comes naturally.. maybe supernaturally.. either way it's fruits are sweet if you're accompanied by a writing utensil and any sort of surface

thank you very much! i like the first paragraph myself, not so sure about the rest of it. have you read Ulysses? parts of it are taken from that and worked in with the rest of it. i used more allusions here than i normally do.

hehe yeah actually i was watching Wings of Desire (incredible film, btw) and it occured to me that if you took the screenplay from that movie it would just read like a poem...kinda inspired me...i heart wim wenders lol
