Description

This was a scene that has been stuck in my head for weeks. It's from An Angel's Revenge and it's right after Kalista comes back from "cooling off" after an argument they had. AND I actually have this scene written, so you'll get to read it. It's not a long scene, but its a cute one. So if you're not into the mushy stuff, you may skip it.

Scene:

    I’d read through everything in the portfolio and pulled up the minutes from the meeting this morning while waiting for her. When the front door opened, I was so absorbed in what Ramah had told Kalista that I didn’t notice and I was listening to Disturbed on shuffle to keep me awake until she returned. I didn’t want to go to bed until I apologized. When the song switched, I heard someone talking and removed one of the earphones.

    “…And I enrolled the kids in separate boarding schools.” Kalista stated and I pulled out the other earphone.

    “You did what?” I asked, pulling the reading glasses from my face. I stared at her teasing violet eyes over the back of our oversized recliner. She slid her hands over my shoulders and down my chest.

    “I didn't do that. I was just trying to get your attention, you're rather spacey lately and I need to show you something important,” She relented and I levitated My glasses to the coffee table. I used her arms to pull her into my lap and she chuckled as she laid my head on my shoulder.



    "I'm sorry, Love. I didn’t mean to blow up at you. It just reminded me of her. I’m sorry," he apologized and I nodded. I knew, and I had flashbacks too. It was inevitable with two tortured souls. I pulled a piece of paper from the pocket of my flannel shirt and held it against my chest.

    "What's that?" He asked and I fought to suppress my fear. Here is the moment of truth. He narrowed his eyes suspiciously and I cleared my throat. He stared at me, waiting for the answer that was right in front of him

    "Well, you said you wouldn't believe I was pregnant unless you saw a sonogram picture," I relented turning the picture around. He stared at the black and white sonogram photo. “There’s the date and my name too. Alex says I’m measuring Eight weeks and the heartbeat is healthy.” He blinked for several minutes, unsure it was real. He took it from my hand and stared at it reading the words in the corner.

    "There's one baby in that picture, so that means it can't be an old picture. You're really pregnant," he breathed and I nodded. He looked up at me, waiting for verbal reassurance that this was indeed reality.

    "Yes, Rex. We're having another baby. A single birth this time," I confirmed and he put the picture on the table with his glasses. I wasn't sure what he was doing until his lips were on mine and I melted into the kiss, draping my arms over his shoulders. Now, this was the reaction I’d been expecting.

    He pulled back and I whimpered as my body began to glow. He grinned at me and his skin glowed too.

    “I think we have time for a quickie before we head to the airport.” He stood with me still in his arms and I giggled like a schoolgirl. If only I’d taped this reading.

    “So, you’re happy?” I asked, needing that confirmation.

    “I’m the happiest born angel in the world, Mi’ Keæntæ (My Queen).”
