Masulf is the first of the three Legendary Wolves of Tenjoh.

The mythology behind the wolves is that they were created by an unknown force to end the fighting between Taiyorb and Sakurro. Masulf calmed the minds of the two, Luprad repressed their bodies, and finally Soltam drained their souls, rendering them as soulless statues that were sealed away.

Masulf, Luprad and Soltam are based off the three components of living beings: the mind, the body and the soul. Their typings form a rock/paper/scissors triangle which represents the mind controlling the body, the body containing the soul and the soul eluding the mind.

The three are also based off the Imperial Regalia of Japan, with Masulf being based off the jewel.

During Pokémon Solar/Lunar's story, Team Eclipse remove either the Solar/Lunar Orb from Trinity Tower, an old tower used to commemorate the Legendary Wolves. Upon the Orb being taken, the player will have access to the three. Masulf will be found in Vision Clearing, located in Lushvine Forest.
