Bane was born in the infamous prison of the South American island nation Santa Prisca known only as El Pozo (also known as The Pit in English). Bane's mother was a prisoner in El Pozo and shortly after Bane's birth, his mother was murdered by her fellow inmates. Yet, oddly, some of the older and tougher inmates opted to protect Bane, one of them identifying himself as the man who had murdered his mother. This inmate is the one that gave Bane his name as, prior to that, he had only been referred to as el chico, or "the boy." The name was originally given to him mockingly but Bane adopted it. Bane's only "friend" as a child was a teddy bear that had been dropped in by a sympathetic guard, the bear being named Osito (which means Teddy in Spanish). Some of the other, more learned inmates of El Pozo (some of which being political dissidents) took it upon themselves to give Bane a basic education and were surprised by how quickly Bane picked up on skills such as math, writing, science, Spanish, English, Latin, and more. During a prison riot, at only the age of ten, Bane sought an attempt to escape, his small frame allowing him to slip through a narrow gap in the prison wall. However he was caught and seriously injured. The prison doctor did all he could but Bane was left in constant excruciating pain.
One day, a team of Santa Prisca scientists began using the inmates of El Pozo to test a chemical steroid referred to as Venom. Venom had been first conceived during World War II by Nazi scientists as a super soldier formula but when Nazi Germany fell, the scientists fled to South American nations to avoid prosecution, some of which arriving in Santa Prisca. The formula for Venom ended up being forgotten until being unearthed by Santa Prisca scientists. Bane watched as inmates were rounded up to be experimented upon but most of them died painful and agonizing deaths. Bane, still agonizing from his prior injury, offered himself up as a test subject. He was only eleven years old then. When Bane was injected with Venom, the result was immediate. He bulked up to an immense size for his age and although he could've seized the opportunity to escape with his newfound strength, decided to learn all he could from the scientists. Bane was fitted with a special harness to provide him with a constant albeit small supply of Venom, the steroid significantly easing the pain he suffered from. The other reason for this abstention from attacking the guards was how he'd noticed that the inmates who'd died from Venom had died from the withdrawal symptoms more than anything.
Bane remained a model inmate, maintaining the peace with his already immense strength and quietly observing the scientists. He feigned illiteracy around them all the while studying the formula for Venom so that he could one day make it himself. Finally, Bane felt the scientists had outlived their usefulness and singlehandedly went on a rampage, using a larger dosage of Venom than he was used to, and leading a massive riot that led to a mass escape from El Pozo, ending the prison's infamous reputation for being inescapable. During the chaos, Bane destroyed all documentation on Venom, leaving Bane as the only person left in the world with the formula to create more. However, Bane watched with fury as all of the escaping prisoners were gunned down by the Santa Prisca military. However before they could fire on him, they were ordered to stand down. A foreigner approached Bane and offered to give him a new life and to hone his already formidable skills. Bane inquired who the man was and the man's answer convinced him: "Ra's al Ghul."
Bane was inducted into the League of Assassins, under the alias of Serpiente in reference to the Venom which coursed through his veins. Bane was trained personally by Nyssa Raatko, one of Ra's al Ghul's daughters. Bane was always masked, preferring a luchadore-esque mask to the traditionally Arabic/Oriental garb worn by the League. It was during this time in the League that he encountered a future foe of his, a recruit by the name of Faris Alzzalam. Their meeting was brief as Bane had been tasked as Nyssa's bodyguard. It's also rumored that Bane and Nyssa were lovers although there is no evidence to support or deny the rumor. Bane eventually left the League, not fully sharing their methods or goals. Bane shunned assassination, believing that a man should always face his would-be-murderer in a one-on-one fight, that any other death was without honor. Bane, now an adult, returned to Santa Prisca with plans of his own.
In Bane's absence, Santa Prisca had resecured El Pozo and largely repopulated it. Bane, however, singlehandedly broke back into the prison, leading another mass breakout. The surprise attack gave Bane time to get his fellow inmates out of the prison and into the jungles before the Santa Prisca military could arrive. There, Bane took charge of his fellow inmates, each of whom had become awed by Bane's strength and intelligence and swore loyalty to him. Bane turned this ragtag group of escaped prisoners into Kobra, a paramilitary force for hire. Over the next several years, Bane's reputation as a mercenary grew. During this time, Bane began searching for a possible means of eliminating the lethal side effects of Venom withdrawal. He managed to develop a slightly altered formula that eliminated the lethal side-effects but at the cost of requiring a constant supply of Venom to maintain its strength enhancing effects. Otherwise he would grow very weak very quickly, physically unable to move or do anything unless supplied with more Venom.
One year, Bane was hired by Rupert Thorne, one of Gotham City's major crime lords, into killing the Batman, a seemingly mythical vigilante that had been upending the criminal dominance of Gotham. Bane and his men accepted the challenge, despite Bane's privately planning to double cross Thorne afterwards and put an end to his drug trafficking (Thorne was Gotham's major drug smuggler at the time). Bane proceeded to take Thorne hostage as bait to lure out the Batman which worked perfectly. Batman managed to defeat most of Bane's men but when the Dark Knight faced Bane, he lost, badly. Bane successfully broke Batman's back but opted not to unmask Batman as doing so would mean the Batman was defeated. Bane wanted to see if Batman could mount a comeback and personally placed Batman back into the Batmobile and placed one of the Batman's own tracers on himself so that, when the time came, Batman would know how to find him.
Bane didn't have to wait long as Batman returned less than a week later, piloting the Bat-Bot, a towering mechanical behemoth. Bane and the Batman entered into a Luchas de Apuestas (match with wager) with both challengers putting up their masks. Bane held the advantage for most of the fight but Batman won in the end by severing the venom tubes and then electrocuting Bane with a loose cable on the damaged Bat-Bot. Batman then unmasked Bane who expressed his respect for Batman and then led his men out of Gotham, leaving Thorne's drug smuggling operations in a shambles.
Bane has made sporadic appearances within Gotham at various intervals, usually hired to protect shipments and other operations from Batman. He was abducted in 2009 by agents working for the Joker and secretly brought to Arkham Asylum at the request of one of the doctors, a doctor he nicknamed "la bruja" (the witch) as she forcibly drained the Venom from his blood for an experiment she called Titan. Batman put a stop to the project despite Bane's turning on him. He never knew it was the Joker that arranged his abduction though.
Batman has learned to defeat Bane without the use of the Bat-Bot (severing the Venom tubes on Bane's special harness). Bane always greets Batman with respect and has expressed a desire to one day hold a rematch against the Batman. Regardless Bane has become a rare ally for the Batman, the two sharing similar goals when it comes to facing corruption. Bane's moral code prevents him from taking the innocent and defenseless as hostages but he won't hesitate to fight or kill those who are corrupt in his eyes (which is broad and does allow for double standards). The only exception to this are his Kobra Force members, most of which were political dissidents in Santa Prisca or Santa Prisca soldiers who had abandoned their posts in rebellion against the current regime. Bane also knows well enough to stay out of the way of the League of Shadows. He once even reneged on a contract with one of Gotham's criminal elements when he learned the League was involved with an operation that would put him in direct conflict with the League.
Bane's greatest weakness is his constant need for a supply of Venom. He knows that the drug will one day cost him but hopes that he will one day meet his end at the hands of a worthy opponent before this comes to pass. Bane prefers hand-to-hand combat to face his foes but will use guns and rocket launchers when necessary. Bane is a skilled orator and is considered very charismatic. He is also an intelligent foe, knowing when he is outmatched. In past encounters with the Justice League, Bane was willing to fight Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, the Flash, Batman, and Martian Manhunter, but when Captain Marvel and/or Superman arrived on the scene, Bane surrendered, knowing he couldn't defeat them one-on-one.

Aka Shazam. His original name was Captain Marvel. No relation to Marvel Comics.

Common mistake. That's what caused Captain Marvel to be renamed Shazam was due to the naming conflicts. I still call him Captain Marvel. Some things just shouldn't change.

Agreed. By the way, what is your opinion on the Kryptonian killer Doomsday? (Any rendition on him.)

I have an image for him but I was mainly focusing on the Batman and his immediate friends and foes. I'm more of a Batman fan than Justice League fan (I also despise Superman)

Way too overpowered. Only way to beat him is with Kryptonite or a boat load of magic power. Plus there's enough stories that are "what-ifs" that show what happens if Superman ever goes rogue. In most cases, he ends up enslaving mankind or destroying the earth. I mean Injustice Gods Among Us is but one example.

That's one of the reasons Suicide Squad was created. Not to mention Batman carries Kryptonite. In addition, Doomsday is the only one to kill him simply by beating him to death. In some renditions of the monster, Kryptonite does not work him. Even if it did, it probably wouldn't work twice. Only individual capable of destroying either is the Lord Himself. His power is second to none.
