Unable to build (and partially unsatisfied with) the Arrow Class Scout Fighter, Kiith Somtaaw needed a viable scout fighter to properly survey the areas surrounding their deep-space mining operations. The Seeker Class Recon became their solution. Interestingly, the Recon became a flying sensor's array, as fast as the Arrow but with the sensor range of a probe. The Seeker, more commonly referred to as the Recon, even grew to replace the proximity sensors in they were able to detect cloaked or even holo-disguised vessels, effectively becoming one of the most useful scouts within known space. After the Beast War, the Hiigarans adopted the Seeker as their primary scout craft for a couple of years but, after a hilarious bet made between the Kiith-Sa of Somtaaw and LiirHra, the Hiigarans switched to the newly developed Oracle Scout Fighter. The only area where the Oracle didn't surpass the Seeker was in its ability to detect cloaked/mimicked vessels, but this wasn't enough to save them from retirement.

The Beast made use of the Seeker for itself, utilizing the stored schematics of the Seeker within the PDAs of the infected hangar module jettisoned from the Kuun-Lan, to produce more Seekers for itself. The Beast's Seekers lagged behind, technologically, their uninfected counterparts.

The Somtaaw have placed a few Seekers on display within the Faal-Corum Museum on the surface of Hiigara and is one of the few Beast War Era Vessels on display at the Hiigaran Fleet Museum.
