From the Secret Journal of James Miles
7th of Noveria, 1225 ESC (November 7th)
Had a quaint and friendly dinner party with my fourth wife, Mira's, family. Nothing special, just family so all of us were invited. Before dinner though, Lady Karina Castwellian, Mira's mother, brought her grandsons to her own private office, welcoming the rest of us to follow her. I expected there to not really be anything too extraordinary back there but to my surprise, Lady Castwellian had a huge table set up in her office and on this table was a model city of sorts. "This is her hobby" said Mira who was more pleased with her mother's progress than anything. Lady Castwellian happens to be something of an artist and enjoys getting her hands dirty with paints, wood, and clay. Most of the paintings in Castwellian Manor are her own and she's quite good in my opinion, and that's not me brownnosing to my mother-in-law. Her favorite hobby just happens to be building small model cities and castles.
This one though, she felt was more of a pipe-dream in her mind. She had thought of this place as a permanent fair grounds. An amusement park essentially, although she didn't know a proper term. Her husband, Marcus, had suggested using it to showcase the new Castwellian Motors vehicles so he could reclaim Castwellian Hall from being our local museum. However this was an expensive undertaking and thought it would require a whole village to succeed. This made me have a brainstorm moment as I realized that this was a perfect idea for something more grand.
A World's Fair!
I made the suggestion of using such a plan to showcase not just Erodian culture and achievements but also the culture and achievements of the other parts of the continent. Not only would this be a grand opportunity for peace, it would also allow Erodas to showcase some of its technological advancements. This became the subject of conversation at the dinner table, mostly since I had to explain the idea to them as a World's Fair has never been attempted here in Isekaido before. Still, it was an idea worth consideration. And frankly, since the King has largely put the kibosh on further development in the interest of diplomacy, this might be just the unifying effort Erodas needs to help smooth over the ruffled feathers twixt us and our neighbors. It's worth a shot. Nothing ventured, etcetera...

Well the King seemed interested and likes the idea of a World's Fair. He concurred on every point made. Members of the Royal Court even seemed interested in the concept. However it was not approved on a royal scale given that we're still kinda in a post-war economy phase right now and we're still working on getting Primassa repaired from their conflict with the Bleumarch a few years ago. Besides, such a plan would need to be presented to our allies personally and would absolutely need them to sign off on the concept.
All that being said, some of the Erodian nobles in the Court, including Prince Ricart himself, approached me separately and expressed their interest and tentative fiscal support to such an undertaking should our neighbors agree to it. Lady Castwellian has been almost giddy with excitement at getting to expand her model city as the basis for what could become Isekaido's first World's Fair. I've even got the Brotherhood of the Scarlet Oak, Erodas's most powerful and influential of citizens, onboard with the concept. They're withholding full support until there's a possibility of it becoming reality but they're amenable to the idea. I have, after all, indirectly helped them become quite wealthy so any idea I come up with tends to be met with cautious interest initially until my idea is better explained in detail.
Mira and I did however have some fun coming up with some music for the fair. I deliberately borrowed (cough plagiarized cough) a few songs from my world for the event. Namely some classics like "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" from Disney World and "Make Way for Tomorrow Today" from Iron Man. Didn't have to make much in the way of changes to the songs since they're pretty good on their own. But this is just some fun early stage planning. I caught Bea, Elle, Belle, and Elizabeth forming an impromptu women's quartet to sing both songs. I say impromptu, but those four tend to harmonize quite well and I'll often hear the four singing in the bath. Poor Risty is tone deaf as a post when it comes to singing but she's great at instrumentation with her people's native instruments and Elaine is excellent at percussion which is no surprise given she's a blacksmith. Mira's not a good singer, which she's aware of, bless her. But she's got an excellent ear and can read and transcribe music expertly. I can join in on guitar or organ. More if I use magic.
But the plan for a World's Fair has support where it counts, at least locally. Some tentative plans have been made but nothing official. Personally I hope this idea takes off. I'd love to visit a World's Fair sometime.
Also, note to self, consider inventing model railroads. I think Lady Castwellian would become a model railroading enthusiast. She likes trains already so a model railroad is the next logical step.
