Well, you know how Desktop Ponies has already got Surprise, the pony whose personality served as inspiration for Pinkie Pie? I thought that maybe it would be nice to make some of the other "inspirational" ponies, starting with Firefly.Though I have to admit, even though I refrained from using the usual bases, Firefly still looks a lot like Rainbow Dash... just much more... pink.
I don't know yet if I'll make her a full fletched Desktop Pony or not, but anyway, have some flying Firefly.

Did you know it is due to Hasbro's copyrights? Faust wants Firefly but Hasbro had lost
the rights, so they change the colors and that's how Rainbow Dash was designed.

not sure why 'Firefly still looks a lot like Rainbow Dash... just much more... pink' is a bad thing, after all, Surprise still looks a lot like Pinkie Pie... just much less... pink.

It's not that. It's just that I did this sprite from scratch, and it still looks so much like a recolored Rainbow Dash. But I guess there's only so much one can do about making them distinguishable, with both having the same body type/mane style and everything.

How do you do the looking at the screen pose.
I'v been trying to get heads to look normal and they just turn out wrong.

Eh, it's mostly trial and error I guess. Draw it and fiddle with it until it turns out the way you want. Practice and/or some artwork with the desired pose to work with helps. Other than that, I really don't know what to tell you.
If everything else fails, Pinkie Pie has some animations where she turns her head at different angles at the screen. Maybe they could help you.
