Description
(Augh, I didn't want to upload this in the Film section, but it seems I have no choice... for some reason I can't upload it in Pencil Tests...)My latest Character Animation assignment. We had to animate a character doing three different walk cycles, and animate him transitioning into each cycle as well.
Walk cycles are probably the toughest thing to animate---because they're so technical and meticulous and not quite intuitive. Although they're challenging, I don't think they're that fun. So basically I rushed this. It's full of obvious mistakes, but I'm running out of time and I'm tired and I want a day off, so THERE.
I think it turned out okay still. The sneak turned out best, I suppose. The part where he hurts his back and wobbles is super wonky and I didn't know how to fix it and I'm cranky so screw it.
Loop it or lose it, man.

I understand about the being cranky thing. Just keep working at it until it becomes natural to you. Then you'll have the waling cycle down PAT. <3 Easily.

I've done quite a few walk cycles (not that you can ever do enough of 'em)---actually, it's not a matter of not feeling it, it's a matter of tight deadlines. Having had more time to do it (and less homework from other classes), I would've been able to work on it until I liked it. But as I ended up rushing it in the end, I know the mistakes I couldn't correct so obviously I'm cranky...
But thanks!!

S-Sorry! I know you've done them before. I guess my encouragement sounded as if you hadn't. Guhh. Some people can whip out walking cycles like nobody's business..but that takes even more practice...
But I like your walking cycles plenty fine. I can see the mistakes but I know yous ee them too so I won't point them out. <3

Very nicely done. great walk cycles and character, the bounce in the step is great and i love the sneak. The final walk, is he supposed to be limping, or is it problems with the looping? It doesnt seem as smooth through one of the steps.

He IS limping, but it didn't turn out as great as I hoped it to, and then I ran out of time to fix the last bugs. It works... I think...

I love those flipity feet. How do you do these hand rendered animations? is it just a pen/pencil and a scanner. and if so which program(s).

It's just pencil and a surveillance camera It's combined all together in an animation program called Crater CTP.

Pretty awsome
allthough on that last one it looks more like his leg is hurting. he should probably stomp more on each step when his back is hurt. like an old man ^^
Digging the feet though xD
