More work for NetMaths [link]Again, some illustrations for an overly complicated math problem (although this one wasn't half as bad as the first one I did...). It's called "La mission", and it's set in the USA, where the students have to picture themselves working for the Ministry of Defense (sorta) while there's a warning of a missile attack. They have to calculate which missile has to be shot back to avoid damage on the ground.
I'm not really into anything involving missiles, so I had less fun working on this one. How can you draw funny things to illustrate such a serious and creepy subject? That's why it ended up being pretty serious. The fact that it's also happening in the USA (and not in Canada) bugs me, because I have a feeling they did it on purpose so us poor Canadian students don't feel threatened by the subject matter. Anyway...
This one's starring Alfred and Roxanne, the rasta boy and the sporty girl, although I toned down their outfits so they looked more serious. Poor Alfred doesn't really look like himself here. Roxanne turned out fine, I'm officially in love with her hair now.

On the upshot, I think it turned out well.
And btw, we have a "Department of Defense" instead of a Ministry like everyone else in the English speaking world... not that I care.
And although I'm not offended by the subject, I do think it is in poor taste for a kids math learning site. They really should avoid politically charged subjects.
