Description
My boyfriend's niece turned four this week, and she's crazy about Maurice Sendak's Where The Wild Things Are, so I figured I'd craft her something personal instead of buying something. I found my grandfather's ink kit in a shelf and decided to give it a try, and I had a lot of fun. It's like super concentrated watercolours, the pigments are intense, truly a thing I'll use again in the future. So yeah, a Max and KW fanart, that I gave her framed. I don't know how well she registered that I made it especially for her, but I got a shy hug (I've only seen her a couple of times so far), so that alone made the whole thing worth it.
I hope you like!

Ow, thatΒ΄s so sweet ...Once I was asked to draw a Spiderman picture for a little boy and I didnΒ΄t see his reaction over it, but I thought that such a young kid would be more happy about a toy he can grab and "use"...ItΒ΄s nice to hear that the little girl appreciated this kind of gift
...
BTW: May I ask what kind of paper did you use for the inks? They are rather liquidy and make wrinkles on the paper, so I am wondering how it worked for you...

I used Bristol board, taped to the table while I was applying the ink. It's sturdy enough not to wrinkle, but if it's not taped it might bend a little

I love how you used the colors-bleeding-past-the-lines look. It looks good!

This is just too charming. I feel like if Maurice were to recreate the illustration style for his book, they would look something similar to this.
I love how a book that's just a little over 20 yrs is still holding strong in the childrens book section. Its rad :]

I gotta admit, this is one of the sweetest pieces I've ever seen. I take it her name is Alice? I really do like this alot. This will be the type of thing that she will see and keep forever. Lovely work.

It's adorable! I like that it has a bit of a childish look to it, almost as a child would draw it (but obviously not.) Even if she doesn't quite get it now, I'm sure she'll appreciate it later.
I know I would!

Magnifique
L'encre donne énormément de force au design et complète bien la ligne, très graphique. Il est temps que je me remette à l'encre !
