This is the second installation of my Marianas Trench/anime series. The song is So Soon. off of the newest album, Ever After.
Anime: Inuyasha
Pairing: Sesshomaru/Rin
The song theme is more along the lines of a particularly painful breakup for one of the parties involved. Like you want them to be happy but if it means being happier with another man or woman, the selfish part of you almost wishes they would stay single.
However, with this piece I was aiming for a father/daughter relationship. Rin is all grown up now and running off to start her own life with a man she loves, and Sesshomaru is reluctant to let her go, just like almost any other dad out there, birth parent or no. This is not a romantically involved couple
I sketched this out with very little light, so looking at it now it's a little "eek!" but I'm still pretty proud of this, especially with Sesshomaru's outfit (as this is the first time I've even attempted to draw his armor and clothing since I last botched it about 4 years ago lol).
The reason that Rin is only half on the page is because I wanted to emphasize her leaving, and it makes the eye more drawn to Sesshomaru and his melancholy face and posture.
