Skull Python (Titanopython maculatus)

Size: 15 meters in length.

Weight: Up to 5 tons.

Diet: Mainly large vertebrates but also smaller animals on occasion.

Perhaps the rarest, and in equal measures most dangerous, creature on Skull Island is the Skull Python. This huge relative of the Reticulated Python is found mainly in and around water sources that flow though the forests and jungles of the island, but they are sparsely populated. One reason for this is that they reproduce slowly, giving birth to a litter of 5 large babies that take a good while to gestate. It is one of the few python species that gives live birth. Being a constrictor, it waits in ambush for large animals to stray close enough to grapple with, and then tightly binds them in its coils until they suffocate. Given the opportunity it will eagerly snatch and swallow smaller creatures or humans without the need to constrict them to death.
