The Death TreesThe death trees, tall and rigid,
Gnarled from the whips of time,
Alone stand in eternal winter, frigid
Despite the sun's soft shine.
Despite the light that floods them,
They remain cold and dark.
Keepers of some long forgotten sin,
The earth's reminder of secrets untold.
Escape the pain of the death trees,
Ne'er come this way again!
Run so you may be free,
Untouched by their dark stain.

One I lost unfortunatly. It was sort of like an entrance exam for this summer writing camp, it was gonna have published authors there to help us hone our skills and whatnot. Always next year.

Ooh, very nice. ;> Love the description.
However, (and I'm no genius at poetry XD;; ) I think it's strange how "time" and "shine" sort of rhyme, and then so do "stain" and "again." It caught me off-guard when that second verse (it's a verse, right?) didn't sort of rhyme. XD
Oh well O; It's beautifully written nonetheless.
