Aang confronted Azula, who's crew had successfully captured both Katara and Toph. It was the day of Black Sun and Azula was powerless. Sokka made his way to her throne room first and she challenged him to a quán jī (boxing) match first. He accepted. He was confident after his training with the Kyoshi warriors that he could take Azula down or at least keep up with her until Aang got there and they could double team her. Unfortunately, Sokka lost and got laid out in front of his sister, and Toph.

Azula told Aang that he'd better accept to fight on her terms, or they're toast. Aang had no choice.

Azula: "You've finally arrived, Avatar. I hope you don't expect to bend your way out of this one. It would be a shame if your friends over there got burned."

Aang: "Give me my friends! We don't have to do this!"

Azula: "Do you really think it'll be that easy? How noble of you, wanting to settle it peacefully. But that's not going to happen. We're going to settle this the old fashioned way. Quán jī.

Aang: "Quán jī!? Are you kidding me?"

Aang looked over at his friends. Toph and Katara were tied up together. Sokka was tied up by himself and still unconscious. Now Aang knew he had to do this, whether he liked it or not. He was given gloves to put on. Azula slowly stripped down while making her way towards Aang.

Azula: "Here are the rules. We will not be hitting below the waist. Each round will go on for as long as we need it to. There will be 3 rounds, and each one is knockout only. If you go unconscious, you lose. It's that simple. A just so you know, you're in trouble. I'm even better in hand-to-hand combat than my comrade, Ty-Lee. I'm sure you've seen her before.

Aang thinks to himself, "She wants to knock me out!? I wish I could just bend and get this over with! But I wouldn't be able to make it to my friends in time to save them, they're surrounded by guards!" Aang accepted his fate. He just didn't want to lose in front of Katara. He'll have to be as hard as a rock in this fight, as swift as an airbender with the heart of a firebender, and the free-flowing nature of a water bender. Maybe his seismic sense will come in handy during this fight.
