Caught a documentary on the telly yesterday on the animals of the forbidden zone. Apparently there are far fewer mutations than expected, and fauna and flora has literally exploded. Nature has reclaimed what we humans did a bang up job of ruining. I guess that even from the worst possible starting point, good can arise.

Does make the prospect of nuclear Armageddon seem less chilling, somehow, that from underneath the clouds of radiation something as beautiful as live prevails, even if everything is toxic as hell.

Yes, it's actually very beautiful (albeit just as dangerous) - plenty of wildlife. Ultimately nature prevails.

I was on an U.S. embassy-organized trip, so don't know the name of the company. I'm sure Google would know -- there are a lot of them doing organized trips for tourists One day trips are about $75-$100 per person, flying to Ukraine is the greater expense.
