This month for the DU its all about fan art. So for my first piece Ive chosen Bonestuck created by :iconDA-DaVinx : I'll admit at first I didnt care much for the character. Felt like something Id seen a million times before. Upon reading his mini comic from last month's challenge he grew on me. I think he has some real potential as a character. Plus his simple design lets me draw muscle, dont know why but I dig drawing muscles so this guy was perfect for that.

If you havent checked out the give it a look. While its not full of pro level artists (although there are several high caliber artists in the group) it has developed into a comic universe with a very rich mythology thanks to its various creators/contributors. There are plenty of great stories to be read and the group works together well. I may be new to the group but I find it to be a very stimulating experience already.

Looking pretty cool, though character himself looka like a rip-off of Bane and Doomsday. Not that it's a problem, no one is truly original anymore.

I must admit I was surprised that he can talk, his decently not the mindless raked bull I thought him to be.

Yeah his creator gave him more depth that I thought at first glance as well. Id pretty much just written him off as another Hulk till I read the mini comic. He did a good job making what could have easily been a throw away tank a more interesting character.

Well depth is an important ingredient for any good hero ore a villain.

Well Im not done with kaiju stuff at all but I decided I really want to get my Mr Happy comic going next year so Ive been pretty focused on heros for a bit. I want to build up interest in my comic work the way I have my kaiju stuff.

I mean, all of your hero's works defiantly builds up the interest, and in my eyes kind of fascinates the audience.
I think that wean the comic shell finely be published it would already have quit a large group of fans.

Firstly thank you. Secondly it is my pleasure. I took the time recently to read through most of the comics and the entire history of the DU via the Wiki. I was really impressed by what I found. When I joined up I was merely thinking this would be another group I could use to promote Mr Happy in for my own future comics, but then I noticed that several of my favorite DA comic creators where in this group and it made me give it a serious look. The thing that makes this group work is that it is full of people who are truly passionate about their comics, about their characters and consequently about the DU. Youve really got a good thing going here man and Im proud to be a part of it now.

No worries man, comic art comes in all sorts of flavors, from the scratchy art of Ben Templesmith to perfect everything of Jim Lee. Its all valid as long as you can tell your story and have someone follow it when its read.
