Description
Look at those baby penguins - LOOK AT THEM.Something I'd like to trial on my placement. The interface is designed for an interactive whiteboard and can be used as a visual aid for children learning to count. You can add and remove objects, hide the total for problem-solving activities and remove all the penguins when you want to start over.
I thought the coding would be a breeze; turns out I had to learn a lot to pull it off properly. There aren't many functions at the moment but I'm planning to either extend this or make a new interface once the need arises. I considered animating the penguins but soon felt it would be too distracting for the class, turning their attention away from whatever activity they were doing.
If you have any suggestions for improving the functionality/layout I'd be happy to listen

If dragging has bugs an alternative could be a function that allows you to selec/deselect penguins by clicking on them and moving selected penguins when you click on an empty space.
Also either the cursor should change or some kind of simbol should indicate the function you're using. A hand for selecting/moving and a"+/-" for adding/removing maybe?

See the idea is that it's used on a IWB, so a cursor isn't necessary. I could add some indication that you actually made a successful click on something, though.
As for moving penguins, erasing and replacing one achieves pretty much the same thing. Trying to keep it as simple as possible, but I appreciate your suggestions

Thanks yeah the audience is very narrow, it's mainly to demonstrate to other teachers how I can make resources during my placement.

I like this idea! The penguins are cute.
... and for some bloody reason, I filled the whole space with 422 penguins. [link]

Maybe if you put enough on there a big penguin will appear and start slapping your screen for trying to break it.

Only thing i could reccomend would be the ability to move the penguins around (maybe have it so you have a hand and rubber icon and you click one of those to choose which you want)
also, needs moar piplups

Piplups were so tempting!
I actually started writing the drag feature but remembered that the board in the classroom doesn't handle it very well. In a recent lesson they were playing a game where you drag number tiles around but it proved to be really difficult. I might put it in later, but I didn't want to spend time on it now if it wasn't necessary. Thanks for the suggestion though!

ahh, yeah, my old physics teachers one had that issue, he'd write and it'd lag so much that we'd end up of playing the game of "Guess what i wrote"

Interactive whiteboards have so much potential, but many aren't yet responsive enough for kids to use effectively. It's such a shame.

I bet you can get more if you optimize the space between them, but I am too lazy to do that xD
I'd guess 350 is possible. Probably less.
