Superhuman Strength: Sofie can lift a maximum weight of over 50 metric tons with normal effort.

Superhuman Durability and Metabolism: Sofie's bones, skin, and muscles are denser and tougher. While not invulnerable, she is able to absorb blows that would affect normal humans and barely register their effect. She is bulletproof up to a .45 caliber round, which is capable of breaking her skin and but not seriously wounding her, and is impervious to smaller bladed weapons and needles. Her metabolism is also enhanced to a level where she heals faster than a normal human and processes things such as alcohol or toxins more quickly through the body. As a result of this, she rarely gets sick and recovers quickly from more severe illnesses such as the flu.

Superhuman Agility and Reflexes: Sofie's balance, bodily coordination, eyesight, reaction time, and reflexes are enhanced to such a level that she is able to dodge weaponry that has small and medium rates of fire as well as being able to control her power of flight at high rates of speed without crashing.

Plant Manipulation: Sofie can create, shape and manipulate plants, including wood, vines, plants, moss, and parts of the plants, such as leaves, seeds, roots, fruits and flowers. The user can cause plants to grow, move/attack, and can revive withered or dead plants.

Background

Sofie was born in a small town in the Netherlands and was a very quiet child growing up. Her two biggest passions were football (soccer) and plants. So when she wasn't practicing, she was tending her garden and growing various vegetables, plants, and flowers. She excelled at football, becoming the top goalkeeper on her club team thanks in part to her height and large wingspan. Sofie parlayed her abilities to a spot on the country's national team, representing the Netherlands in the Olympics and the Women's World Cup.

She finished her schooling after the end of her playing career, obtaining a degree in Botany and a job as a teacher at her university. In addition to teaching classes, Sofie would research new plants that appeared. During one of these expeditions, she encountered a flower that grew from soil that was irradiated from the same meteor shower that gave Isla/Spitfire her powers. Continuous exposure to the cosmic radiation from the flower and its soil changed her physical makeup and gave her superhuman abilities. In addition to super strength, speed, flight, and durability, she found out she was able to control plant life.

Adopting the name Machtiga, a variation on the Dutch word machtig which means mighty and powerful, Sofie gained some acclaim throughout the Netherlands and Europe and was given the nickname the Dutch Dynamo. While she enjoyed teaming up with heroines such as Lionne and Meraviglia, her heart belonged to the Greek demi-goddess Lauren Patras, who fought alongside her as Emerald Justice, and accepted a position at Steel City University to be closer to her.
