Description
Question: Who the hell would waste their time reconstructing a donut in 3D?Answer: Me.
- Look, I like donuts. Donuts are good. Donuts are my friends.
This particular specimin was created using Amorphium 1.0. I was particularly pleased with the the way the surface of the donut came out, which was hand-painted directly onto the 3D 'dough'..... The Icing is strawberry flavor - inspired by my first taste of one from Dunkin' Donuts.
Oh... what sort of coffee is that? Why that's a capuccino with whipped cream on top! -Like you can get in France. You should try it. mmmmMMMMmmmm.......

Looking at this made me extremely hungry until i read the comments and saw sanscesse's SPAM can. This made me wonder ... can you really mix SPAM, coffee, and donuts so I tried and the answer is NO! But in other news this picture is amazing!!!

- I but I found that if I slice the donut in two like a bagel and insert a slice of spam in between the two halves, you get a really nice 'sweetmeat' treat.....

Looks like teh yum to me. 3D crap is always dee-lish. So I suppose that would make 3D Studio Max the oven. And the monitor is the apron, protecting your clothing from the mess.

3D studio is an expensive oven. I have to make do with the cheapo ones. Unfortunately, my monitor protects me from very little with all those microwaves frying my braincell. That's right, I've only got one left. I'm hoping it's going to divide itself into daughter cells and start a whole new family tree in my head. Once that's happened, I might be able to do something useful with, it like logical thought and intellect, and perhaps earn enough to get one of those expensive ovens. In the meantime I have to make do with 2D Studio Muck.

If your braincell can perform meiosis, you'll have 4, that's right, 4 new braincells. Granted, they'll only have half the chromosomes. But that's better than having one or two extra, right?

BrainCode In reply to sanscesse [2004-06-09 20:56:44 +0000 UTC]
if it means four times the intellect and aptitude, I'll go for it!
Now... it's all down to the ability and stubborness of that hermit braincell of mine....
I don't mind the lack of chromosomes, I guess....I mean I can't see them can I? hhhmmmm but will it turn me into some kind of 'inbred'? -Nope, I'm still ok with it...I feel like I'm inbred as it is...

i totally love the realistic yet "fake" apperance of this render. Its soo soft.. and ..well.. i just want to grab it and eat it.. i think this would look cooler if it had sprinkles ontop.. Add them using the Scatter modifier if u didnt already know man.

Donuts with sprinkles? that's for panzies!
Well, Actually I don't have such a thing as a scatter modifier
I did actually try manually putting some test sprinkles on individually, but didn't like the direction it was going. I was loosing focus on the smoothnes and light color 'marblization' of the frosting on the top of the donut specimen. It's all very technical, you know...

this is nice. I was just surfing around, and I found this. the Donut came out great, the texture, the frosting, it's composed very well. the coffee mug seems kinda plain, it's well rendered, but there's just something that makes it seem unreal, like a real donut with a fake coffee... but anyway I look at this, it's well done. Nice job with this, and I look forwared to seeing more from you soon

Thanks for your great comments. Yep I agree, the Coffee is 'fake'. The donut was created at a different time to the coffee. I will have to create a new coffee cup soon (probably end up being a couple of years before I get round to it knowing me!!!). Anyhow, I appreciate your honest comments and I agree wholeheartedly.

Thank you for the compliments!
I intend to do some more intensive textured stuff soon. The donut and coffe were done in Amorphium, which I find does not cater to bitmap textures to well. - Although you can paint directly onto the 3D object in a manner that suits certain cases, the donut surface being one example.

Have you tried to use painted bitmap textures ?it increases realism!

really nice, makes me hungry too...
some (hopefully) constructive critic:
you could make the surface of the coffee a bit less smooth, maybe some ripples (?) would be nice... and the cream could take over a bit of the coffee's color at the bottom

BrainCode In reply to LiquidStranger [2004-01-11 23:12:11 +0000 UTC]
That's a good idea about the cream taking over some of the coffee color. Yep.... that would have worked a treat! Perhaps a bit of froth would be in order too?
I'll see if I can do an updated coffee cup in the near future....
In the mean time, I have to go eat something....
