To strangers, Vern comes off as a polite young man with big dreams and a strong drive to work towards his dream. He has a wonderful work ethic and is intelligent, although despite all that and his typically docile by nature species, Vernon has a snappy temper. Although he is fairly good at holding his temper around people he views better than himself, girls and adults, once he’s closer to someone and more “relaxed” around them, his temper tends to show a lot clearer. He is very easy to annoy-- poking, teasing, judging, or just anything generally annoying can make him snap, normally preceded by a passive aggressive comment before smacking or yelling at the individual who’s ticked him off.

When someone he doesn't really know or is the type of person he’d rather not leave a bad impression on, pisses him off, he’ll typically just be very passive aggressive and make small annoid comments. He’ll do this to really anyone without even realizing it sometimes and if pointed out will apologize quickly and loudly (if the person in question is again a girl, higher adult or he views better than himself ((or intimidating))). That said, Vern also has a bad habit of saying things he does not mean to, be it rude, embarrassing confessions or just being painfully honest.

The kid stresses very easily, and is rather anxious around new people before he can diagnose what kind of person they are (ESPECIALLY GIRLS, girls are both scary and beautiful). In most normal social situations he’ll do his best to leave a good impression, although he has low tolerance for stupidity (mostly with other men). Lastly he’s a stickler for the rules and typically won't act out or get into trouble, just thinking about breaking the rules stresses him out. He’ll often preach the rules and try to convince people to not be stupid, but in the end its easy to drag him along.

Vernon was born the second child in a family of almost all women, the only other man being his dad. The Sullivan family worked mostly for the airport in Mistralton City, his dad a parts delivery man/truck driver and his mother being a secretary of some kind. Their jobs paid enough for the family to live a good, normal, lower middle class life-- infact, what Vernon would later call a TOO normal life.

Vernon didn’t have the best time during his time going to school in Mistralton City, he was an easy target when it came to being bullied. He’d always react strongly, yelling or swinging his weak noodly arms at his attackers and only further making a fool of himself, the only way he could get kids to stop picking on him half the time, was to scream at the top of his lungs till they’d mess off. His reputation as “the screamer” also made it very hard to make friends, and his older sister, who was two grades ahead of him, didn’t help much at all. She’d act like they weren't even related half the time, and brought the annoying nicknames home with them just because she thought his reaction was funny-- it only stopped after he finally told on her (then later just became petty teasing.).

This went on all through junior high and highschool, although his handling the bullying got a bit better as he got older (but he’d still snap occasionally and make a fool of himself). All though school he distanced himself from people, having slight trust issues when it came to befriending his fellow classmates, only time he’d really talk to anyone is if they had to work on an assignment together. He didn’t mind the lonely school life he lead though, people just. Didn’t appeal to him all that much. Sure he’d get bored when he ran out of homework over school breaks or the weekend, but it was a sacrifice he was willing to make for some peace of mind.

So then came graduation. Before hand he was looking into schools, but nothing really appealed to him, he wasn’t even totally sure what he wanted to do next in his life. So, while looking he applied for multiple scholarships that didn’t go towards a specific school or trade, and actually managed to get the money he needed.

Walking out of highschool he was an excited, and determined young adult, ready to take on the world. Although, he realized, looking at the world he was living in, he seemed to be the only person with drive to leave this small, airport of a city. His parents never lived anywhere but Mistralton City, and never followed any dreams the might of had when they were little, and his oldest sister, who was now 21, was working as a stripper and still living with their parents, and by the looks of it, his younger sister, about 3 years younger than him, didn’t have a very promising future either, considering she was sneaking out every other night, smoking and drinking…. He lived in a house of friars in his eyes-- and even if he loved his family, he could never live like this. That's when he decided, he would be the family success, he’d go out there and put their family name in the light if no one else would. He’d become popular, successful and rich, travel the world and turn his once normal boring life into something big! And to start all that, he’d have to go big.

He spent all night searching for the perfect school, something formal, classy and well known to start his trek to greatness-- and the school he ended up finding was St Mortiel/Desta college, a highschool and college combined, said to be very rich and high class, while also being shrouded with mystery and legends concerning the schools origin, and with his scholarships, he might just have enough to go with the help of his parents.

And thus Vernon Sullivan’s path to greatness was paved.
