The ship of an important character in my novel IMPERFECT.

LONG process making this image (started with a sketch, then built the ship from that in SketchUp, then sketched the internal schematics, then exported the overall outline from SketchUp, then used that and the schematic sketch as templates in Illustrator, then added the technical details!). Not to mention the hours I spent learning how ramjets work, so I could design the engines so that they'd be more realistic.

Madness. At least it looks cool.

The reason it took so long to design the engines was because I wanted to design a system that would work in water, in the air, and in the vacuum of space. I finally came up with something that has hardly any moving parts (aside from exhaust flaps, some port doors, and the ramjet inner-body). This is a scifi story taking place in another world, so I wanted it to feel a little alien, but still seem realistic.
