Description (Next on my wildplush agenda is a coyote in Antartica).  I'll drop the wildplush veil a moment because I'd like to talk anout Britt. That's my name for her. I have no idea of her Douglas name, and suspect she doesn't have one. I can't find any evidence that she was generally released, though I've seen a Douglas Husky here  on Da with some similarities (will add link when I find it). I bought her in the Douglas factory store in 2000. Three years earlier I bought her mirror-image, dark-grey cousin Pawla in the same place (Pawla faces right, Britt left. If they weren't two years apart and different colors I'd assume it was a deliberate 'bookend' effect. I have a photo of two largish raccoon plushes in the store which are also mirror-twins.)

I saw quite a few plush in the Douglas factory store that were unlike plush in their catalog. I assumed some were limited runs for particular client firms (e.g. the big border collie), or in this case perhaps prototypes or designs which didn't make it to retail. I'd love to know if anyone knows for sure, or has seen others like Britt (close-up photos of her and Pawla can be found early in my Plush gallery).

Anyhow this was a few weeks after I bought her. What was a plush from New Hampshire doing here? Road-trip, of course!

You are SO lucky to have been able to experience the Douglas factory store when it existed. What an incredible experience to have been among all those unusual prototype plushes. Wish I could time travel back to visit it. I think I would just about lose my head.

I did see a couple similar vintage Douglas huskies on eBay last year, I think? I saved pictures of them:

The first one looks like the one I saw on Da - obvious similarities to Britt in the picture above, but obvious differences, too. I think Britt looks more 'finished' for want of a better word. And not sure, but the other one might be slightly larger.

The second, darker one, however looks VERY much like my Pawla from '97 and is definitely the same design. Never seen another one. Thanks! I wonder why the other one came from.
