One of the other new arrivals I've been wanting to photograph - leaning toward Lena for her name, which is close to Douglas's suggested 'Leeloo'.
This little bit of forest was eerie. It was very still except now and then when a deep groaning sound like a sound effect from a horror movie would issue forth from somewhere I couldn't locate. I think this must have been a large broken tree limb swaying back and forth somewhere overhead. Once or twice we heard what seemed to be the distant groaning or roaring of a large, unimaginable animal in the distance (the nearest animals I saw were horses on a sort of ranch further up the road). And now and then a sudden deep booming, which was actually surf breaking on a beach beyond the hill. In between these sounds it was utterly quiet (except for the constant ringing in my ears of course).
Taken last week on yet another overcast Friday, but this time the setting suited the light.
(this Friday it managed to rain all day for the summer solstice, so didn't manage anything - but more to come eventually!)
