Ooh, this is beautiful! The warm lighting makes it look so peaceful, despite the shadows inside the deeper reaches of the forest.
Given the time this picture is set in though, looks would indeed be deceiving. o:
It also makes me think of the Forest Temple music, which is now stuck in my head, but I'm not complaining because it's one of my favorites.

It is one of the creepier tracks, but also quite pretty. Don't know why but I like the odd "instruments" in that one.
Now, the one that does freak me out is the Shadow Temple. But that's also because life-sucking hands...and redeads...

Looks like a kauri forest in New Zealand! You could imagine an entire tribe of pygmies living in the canopy of each tree.

Nice. Link and his horse look almost insignificant in the face of the forest.Β It's interesting howΒ the place where Link stands is illuminated yet the forest yields no light whatsoever despite the very bright sky above it.Β I wouldn't go in there.

OOoooh, I like this a lot. I would love to see a Zelda game that had a lot more roaming actions in the woods such as this. Even though this might scare or entise some people to go or not go in, you can't deny the ambiance that this delivers. Oh the possibilites. Thanks for painting this.

Mmhmm, absolutely. The Faron Woods sections in Twilight Princess teased at such possibilities. I would love to see Epona gameplay develop too. It would be really tense to have to lead her on foot through those dark woods, and make sure she's not startled by anything o:

I wonder if Zelda can get away with that, adding just a little bit of horror to a fantasy game. But yeah, that would be awesome to have more actions and what not for Epona. Not something like you have to feed her all the time, but you get to. Or maybe adding a bit of realism, like she reacts when something is close by.

Epona's always been as important to me as Link, Zelda and Ganon in the series, so I would LOVE to see her take more of the spotlight
If Nintendo could make me care about her all the way back in the simple OoT days, then the potential is definitely there.
