Description Rain Chapter 3

Rainkit looked at her mother in surprise. She had a sister! But by the sound of it no one knows where she is or if she is even alive.
Rainkit looked up at her mother; her tail was twitching back and forth.
“Spottedfur, what did Leafkit look like, what was like, was she…?”
“Hold on Rainkit! So many questions! Now let’s start with your first question, what did she look like? Hmm, let’s see.” Spottedfur paused trying to remember. “Oh, Leafkit was a beautiful light brown tabby her fur was very smooth, and she had amber eyes. I don’t remember what she acted like, but I remember all 3 of you were very greedy!” There was a hint of humor in her voice as she mentioned Rainkit and her siblings.
“Oh, ok thanks!” Rainkit turned around, she was about to rush back to the nursery, but she wanted to ask her mother one last question. “Oh Spottedfur, did you ever find her?” Rainkit asked, she looked up at Spottedfur and sat down with her tail twitching, waiting patiently for her to reply.
“No, we never found Leafkit. The Clan tried to track her but it was raining that night and her scent was washed away. They tried to follow it but, it ended in the direction of Sunning Rocks.” Spottedfur murmured, she suddenly looked up and met Rainkit’s eyes and smiled but tears still streamed down her cheeks. “It’s getting late you should be sleeping, get some rest now.”
Rainkit nodded and padded into the nursery. She looked up at the half-moon, she thought of her brother, was he safe, or is he hurt somewhere in the forest. She looked at the stars and new that only StarClan knew those answers.

                                              ********

She woke up feeling a cold breeze ruffling her fur and could here the usually calls to summon the clan for a meeting so she got up and padded out of the nursery and into the clearing. Most of the Clan had already gathered around the ledge. Rainkit started looking around for her mother and father but couldn’t spot them through all of the cats so she settled down next to Featherpaw.
“We have searched for Jaykit for longer than 6 sunrises.” she continued, “I’m so sorry Spottedfur, but I don’t think we will ever find him, he has left our borders.” Moonstar looked down at her paws for a moment then looked at her Clan. Everyone started staring at the star’s that were fading into the sun light. She couldn’t take this anymore! Rainkit had lost her sister, and then her brother. She just couldn’t hold on, she had to stop pretending that this wasn’t happening and she would wake up in her nice cozy nest with her brother right beside like it has always been. Her only siblings are gone now they hunted with StarClan; she would never see them again until she joined the ranks of StarClan as well. Rainkit forced herself to look at the sky, her eyes started to water and the tears rolled down her cheeks.
“Rainkit has reached her sixth moon, and I believe it is time for you to become an apprentice.” Rainkit looked around the clearing, every cat was yowling in approval, and she couldn’t stop a smile stretch across her face as everyone cheered for her. She looked up at Moonstar as Moonstar waited quietly for the noise to die down before she continued. “Rainkit, please step forward.” Rainkit slowly stepped into the middle of the clearing as Moonstar joined her. She had been waiting for this moment ever since she could open her eyes and see the world around her, eager to learn what the world had in store for her.
Moonstar looked her straight in the eyes as she spoke the familiar words passed down from generation to generation.
“From this day forward until you have received your warrior name, you will be known as Rainpaw.” Every cat in the clearing started to cheer her new name, Featherpaw was the first to scream her new name and the rest followed her chant. Rainkit looked around her eyes were sparkling as everyone called her by her new name.
“Silverstorm,” Moonstar called.
Silverstorm made her way through the crowd of cats; she came up to Rainpaw and stood right next to her, her tail was twitching with excitement, as Moonstar continued. “You have just recently become a warrior, but I know you will pass on everything you know to Rainpaw.” Moonstar yowled, her voice echoing across the clearing.
Silverstorm gave a tiny nod and faced Rainpaw.
Rainpaw padded closer to her mentor. She raised her muzzle to gently touch noses with Silverstorm.
Moonstar flicked her tail and the apprentice’s ceremony was over. Everyone started retreating to there den’s as the meeting broke up.
“When are we going to start my training can we start now?” Rainpaw was so excited about becoming and apprentice, she was bouncing up and down in delight. She stopped bouncing reliving how much of a kit she might seem. She sat down string into her mentor’s eyes waiting for her to reply.
“Of course we can start; it’s still bright and early! Now, let me show you around the forest!” She bounded out of the camp without warning, leaving Rainpaw to sprint after her.
It didn’t take her long to catch up to Silverstorm. She stopped next to the river.
“This is the river, it travel’s all the way down there” she pointed with her tail downstream. “Let’s go down there,” she trotted at an easy pace downstream. “Our territory ends here. Smell.” She meowed. Rainpaw lifted her muzzle and scented the air. It had this awful tang to it that made her eyes water. “What is that stench?” Rainpaw remarked.
“That’s the scent of Twolegs, do you see there nests over there, they sleep in those.” Silverstorm pointed her tail to a giant Twoleg nest. It was the biggest thing she had ever seen. “Come on! Your not going to hang around there all day are you?” Silverstorm was already padding upstream leaving Rainpaw to stare at the Twoleg nests. She raced after Silverstorm, leaving the Twolegs and there awful stench behind.
“Where are we going now?” Rainpaw asked, “We are going along the ThunderClan border, do you smell there scent?” Silverstorm asked, Rainpaw lifted her muzzle and scented the air again, there scent was like the forest, it smelled of tree’s and plants. She liked this scent better than the Twolegs.
Rainpaw looked at Silverstorm and nodded, she stared across the river into ThunderClan territory, there were so many trees and bushes, only a few spots were in sunlight. She looked up at the sky, the day had gone by quick the sun was going down, and she could see a faint outline of the moon. Silverstorm must have noticed as well, for she mewed “It’s getting a little late, lets head back to camp before it gets too dark.”
Silverstorm sprinted off towards the direction of the camp, leaving Rainpaw to follow her, what an exciting day! She had already seen half the territory. She wondered if tomorrow would be even better!
