Rain Chapter 2

Rainkit kept running and running. The ground was getting wet and muddy, it was difficult to move for each step got stuck in the mud and it got harder and harder to put one paw in front of the other. Jaykit’s scent was fading. He had to be around here somewhere.
“Jaykit! Jaykit where are you!?” Rainkit yowled over the pounding rain. She looked around but she couldn’t see him anywhere through the rain. She could still scent him but it was fading and so was her own scent, and she still couldn’t see him anywhere! What if I can never find him what happens if im stuck here forever? She tried yowling his name again but it was no use.

The storm clouds were moving away, and the sun was slowly coming out behind the trees. She started her search for the camp but she had know idea of where to start, she was… lost. She wasn’t even sure she was in RiverClan territory anymore.
“Jaykit where are you?” As if StarClan answered her plea she herd the bushes behind her started to shake. She ran toward the bushes. But when she scented the air it was a large group of cats. Rainkit's mother was with them.
“Oh thank StarClan I found you! Are you alright” Spottedfur started liking Rainkit’s ruffled fur. “Don’t ever go off on your own again. Oh I hope Moonstar has a good punishment for you, do you have any idea how worried I was?” Spottedfur sounded furious but Rainkit new she was being harsh only because she loved her. Then a sharp pain stabbed her heart, where was Jaykit? The whole reason she came out here in the first place was to find him.
“Spottedfur, where’s Jaykit?” Rainkit asked, a sad look crossed Spottedfur’s face that she couldn’t bear to look at.
“We haven’t found him yet, we thought he would be with you, but he isn’t is he.” Rainkit shook her head, Spottedfur sighed.
“Now you go back to camp and dry off, while we look for your brother. Oh and the camp is that way.” Spottedfur mewed as she pointed with her tail toward a patch of brambles, then she raced of in the opposite direction.

Rainkit padded back towards the camp, her head was down and her tail dragged in the crusted mud.
“I should have stopped him, then none of this would have happened,” she muttered to herself. She could have told him not to go, or at least tell her mother as soon as it happened. But it’s to late now; I might never see him again…
When she entered the camp everyone looked in her direction, their expression was happy but then it faded back to sorrow when they notice that Jaykit wasn’t with her. Then she remembered her father. How disappointed he would be. If Spottedfur was that angry, then how angry, would Cloudspots be?
She padded over to the nursery with her head down and padded into her nest. Ripplestream was still sleeping in the nest next to her. She scented the air; her brother’s scent was stale.
She new both her and Jaykit would be in huge trouble when the patrol finds Jaykit. I hope he didn’t wander far, she thought.
Rainkit got up out of her nest and padded back out into the clearing, waiting for the patrol to come back. She walked around in circles impatiently. She wished she new where her brother was. She padded back to the nursery, and lay back down in her mossy nest. It felt so cold without her brother lying beside her. Maybe this was all just a dream. She would wake up soon in the nursery with her brother right beside her, like always. Rainkit closed her eyes and waited until sleep took over, and she fell asleep.

Rainkit woke up the next morning, to feel the warm new-leaf breeze. Jaykit and she are going to become apprentices today!
“Hey Jayki…” She looked over her shoulder and he wasn’t there. Then she remembered, Jaykit wandered off and no one has found him yet. Well she just woke up so maybe he is here!
She rushed outside of the nursery to see if Jaykit was there, but he wasn’t.
She saw her mother talking to Moonstar; tears glistened down her cheeks as she talked. Maybe they know where Jaykit is. She padded over towards them but stopped in her tracks. She didn’t want to be rude so she waited a couple fox lengths away.
“Let all cats old enough to catch there own prey join here beneath the Tall-ledge for a Clan meeting” Moonstar’s yowl echoed all around the camp as cats from every den started gathering around the Tall-ledge.
“As you may know already, Rainkit has been found. But…” Moonstar paused and took a huge breath. “But Jaykit has not been found yet, but we will keep searching until he is found!” Moonstar looked down at her paws as she spoke.
"Not another kit! How could I let this happen!?” Rainkit looked around for the cat that meowed that. It was her mother. What did she mean by another kit? Did Rainkit have another sibling that had been lost so long ago? What if her long lost brother or sister was still alive, or is living now in another clan!? She new her mother would know. She padded up to Spottedur.
“Spottedfur, can I ask you something?” Rainkit asked her mother.
“Wait, (sniff) until the, (sniff) meeting is over (sniff) Rainkit (sniff)” Spottedfur murmured in reply. She didn’t want to ask again but decided that she should listen to the meeting. There might be some clue of where her brother might be right now.
“We tried tracking his scent,” Moonstar continued, “but we lost the trail close to the ThunderClan border. We will keep searching until we find him! Now I would like my deputy, Brownstripe, to organize the patrols, this meeting is now over.” Moonstar leapt off the Tall-ledge and padded into her den, while Brownsripe started organizing the patrols.
“So Rainkit, what is it you wanted?” Spottedfur asked.
“Well, why did you say ‘Not another kit’ when Moonstar was talking during the meeting?” Rainkit asked as she started to tilt her head to the side.
“That’s because, Rainkit, I really had three kits not just two, they were born outside the camp and I wasn’t strong enough to move. While I was sleeping one wandered off and I never saw her again…” Spottedfur trailed off lost in thought as if she was reliving the time when she had her kits so long ago.
“What was my sister’s name?” Rainkit asked
“Her name, was, Leafkit.”
