Well...not sure about the book, but Philip Quast is the guy I've always imagined as being the 'canon' Javert and he's 6'4". Big guy. And thank you!

Um...in the book it doesn't say...I usually kinda mix and match book, musical, and movies...I think Philip Quast is slightly intimidating in Javert costume, but in real life he's not scary at all. It's kinda funny the difference.

Hey I kinda like the idea that he is super tall (even if it doesn't say directly in the book.) It just seems to fit well with his character for some reason.
And gosh I think most everyone takes bits from different versions and make it into one story in their head... I mean that is basically what I did for some of Unseen Genius. ^_^

You know, I've never really thought about it, but you're right. I have yet to read any fanfic or see any picture of a character that is strictly true to a book/movie/whatever. Except perhaps pictures and fanfics that are taken directly from that particular book/movie/whatever...okay I'm rambling now. Basically I see what you mean!

*looks way up* Helloooo monsieur inspecteur! How is the weather up there?* He is way taller than me! but i agree it does fit the character, i think the tallness would make him more intimidating as a "Bad Guy" (*me speaking*which he is not!!!!)

i know he is not a bad guy! But other people do think so. Even a man who played Javert! Brad Little was talking to a kid and he was like "Yeah i played the mean old bad guy" XD. I loves Javert *glomps him too*
