Notes: Situated near the center of the Milky Way Galaxy, Beltaon was, at one point, a bastion of civilization. The native species, the densorin, were gifted with long lifespans and keen intellects, which allowed them to be one of the first species to rediscover space travel after the reapers’ latest purge. They were well known for their studies of celestial mechanics and morphological simulations of galactic language, topics beyond the understanding of even the protheans. Had things gone differently, they may very well have been the race to have created a galaxy-spanning empire. Indeed, they did create an impressive military force, having even gone to war with the oravores over a planet both species wished to colonize. However, despite all their advancements, they never grew out of the practice of densorin sacrifice that their ancestors had practiced since their early days. Indeed, when a pseudoscience similar to phrenology on Earth became a widely held belief among their community, it became common practice to sacrifice the best specimens of each generation, usually one-per-family, to gain the favor of their gods. Such a practice would lead to them being one of the first species for the reapers to utterly destroy. Believing the strange aliens to be vengeful gods, they sacrificed countless children in an attempt to appease them. Alas, it was all in vain. Not that they would’ve stood much chance against them without such a backwards tradition, but it certainly didn’t help matters.
Character Notes: Being born as one of the “less desirables” of his species, Pierok never had to worry about being sacrificed to the gods early in his life. Instead, he spent the majority of his life as a con man, taking his show across the Milky Way Galaxy. During his escapades, he ending up getting on the bad side of many powerful figures, and ended up fleeing most planets he lived on after a year or two. However, luck finally shown on him when the reapers began their assault. As the alien machines rampaged across the galaxy, even wiping out many of the densorin, Pierok took the opportunity to pull off his biggest scam ever, by starting a religion. All throughout the galaxy, he began preaching on worlds that lived in fear of the reapers eventual arrival, stating that he was in communication with them and that they had come to rain down judgement on the galaxy. He said that only by following him, and paying him exorbitant amounts of money, would the chosen be spared in order to rebuild the world. At first, this scam went about as well as one would hope. However, when he, by sheer luck, predicted that the reapers would pass by a certain planet, which they only did because of the relatively primitive inhabitants who weren’t even close to discovering space travel, many flocked to him. It got to the point where he managed to buy a high class star ship, which he used to transport his cult and, secretly, avoid the reapers. How did his story end? No one knows. Some say him and his ship were eventually shot down. Some say that he ordered his follows to leave the Milky Way entirely, and that the reapers had prepared a world for them out in Dark Space. To this day, there are rumors of an extra-galactic planet which, to this day, worships the reapers as deities. Surprisingly enough, should said rumors be true, Pierok may have actually saved some species that are currently extinct in the Milky Way. An interesting idea to ponder, but who knows if it’s really true or not.
