Description
Montezuma supposedly had a vision that a comet blazed across the sky that foreshadowed the end and destruction to his empire. There is also an Aztec goddess named Coatlicue who was the giver and destroy of life.I wanted to incorporate of those aspects into an artwork that foreshadowed the arrivals of the Europeans and an end to their culture. I wanted to create an ominous, somber mood to it through the use of greens, yellows and other dark shades. It's bit hard to explain but this artwork piece still sends chills throughout me.
All of the images used were stock photos. Finding an aztec model was quite difficult to find until I found a gorgeous stock photo of Asvision , the stock was downloaded from here: [link] The golden coin in the top right was meant to represent the Aztec Calendar which signified the end of the world.

I have seen many versions of this lady. She has the aloof, aristocratic bearing of Β a Priestess, or even the Goddess herself!
As a Priestess, I could very imagine her performing a human sacrifice herself without hesitation of fumbling!

Stunning. I can see why you consider it your best. Beautiful. Full of a sense of waiting. Tense. I dunno.

Amazing.
Yep, the aztecs foreshadowed the doom of their empire. The Aztec divided the world's story in 5 "suns" (or ages). We live in the 5th Sun and their thought that the 5th Sun would be the last of the world (The 5th Sun ends in 2012) The Aztecs predicted the end of the 4th Sun by the arrival of europeans and were right. They even though Hernan Cortes was the reincarnation of their god Quetzalcoatl.
Great job, I love the colors, but I have a couple of comments:
The building is an Mayan pyramid, not an Aztec one. It's the Chichen ItzΓ‘ castle.
And I thing the title could say "Muerte Azteca" (Aztec Death) Azteca Muerte doesn't make sense in spanish.
Good work, I love your wallpapers ;3

Thanks! I was limited on stock photos and had to incorporate some Mayan images. The Mayan pyramid was the only one that worked with the composition, however the average viewer would probably not known the difference. Either way both the Mayans and Aztecs and cultural similarities so it's not a huge difference. I didn't go to into detail on Aztec mythology, but you state is true. In the end please feel free to correct my Spanish as shameful as it maybe I am a Hispanic who fails at Spanish, lol. =]
