Due to a massive misunderstanding in the comments section, I feel the need to clarify something:

This is in NO WAY meant to discourage victims of rape from coming forward and reporting crimes. If you're a victim of sexual assault or know someone who is, for the love of God and the safety of society, REPORT IT TO AUTHORITIES! Rape is an abhorrent crime that no one should ever have to experience!

That said, it's absolutely crucial to maintain a neutral position until evidence comes to surface. Don't assume someone is lying, but equally as important, don't assume it's the whole truth either. The accused has just as much of a right to due process as anyone else, including the victim. This is the main message in my art piece, along with pointing out the absurdity and discrimination in conveying a particular message.

Sorry for any misunderstandings, and I hope this clears some things up.

Within the past 7 months, there have been 3 stories of rape and sexual assault in North America that got massive media coverage. Despite 1 of which have been proven false, and 2 with no evidence to support it, there has been universal support for the supposed victims in each case based on mere accusation alone:

- UVA Rape Story by Rolling Stone Magazine (4 unproven): nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/…
- Bill Cosby rape allegations (12 unproven): www.huffingtonpost.ca/news/bil…
- Emma Sulkowicz "Mattress Girl" (proven false): columbiaspectator.com/spectrum… Legal complaint from Paul Nungesser here: kcjohnson.files.wordpress.com/…

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm personally sick of constantly hearing people push the idea of "teaching boys not to rape". It's as sexist as it is racist to teach "black people not to steal". How many more lives have to be ruined before people stop and think "maybe this is just ONE SIDE of the story?"
