Description
This week's Ten Ton Weekly Sketch Challenge [link] was Cable, one of my all-time favorite Marvel characters. As always, I tried experimenting a bit with my entry. This time I used Dr. P.H. Martin's dyes for all of the coloring, but discovered their black is WAY too blue. So I ended up doing a ton of marker shading on his costume, skin, metal arm and the guns. I also used a white ink pen to drop in some highlights on the leather. All in all, I'm fairly pleased with this piece in general, but am particularly pleased with the linework. I recycled this piece of paper (the back of an earlier drawing I didn't complete) and found the texture of it to be almost like velvet after I cleaned it up. Maybe some guys would like that, but I ended up fighting it the whole time I was inking it. Still, I think it turned out ok, and is more in line with where I'm wanting to take my style. As usual, because I was using the dyes and markers, I went with the Rapidosketch pens for the really nice waterproof ink.I hope you guys like. Cable rocks.

Thank you. I LOVE Cable. Probably my favorite X-Character by far.
I need to do more of this character.

I never got what was up with his eye. Aparently he's the sone of Cyclops or something, but it always glowed and nothing else. He had a roboti techno-organic arm that is explained but they never talk about what's up with his eye!

I think his eye glows because of his telekinesis abilities.

There are a number of supposed reasons, but it's never actually specified. It just bothers me. Like if someone had a fish nailed to her wall and she just shrugged. it would drive me off the deep end.

Ha! That's an awesome example. Fish nailed to a wall...hmmm. I like it.

It seems to be the elephant in the room and I don't like it.

You are getting better with each piece. Plain and simple.
Love the musculature, it is detailed but not overdone. I am not sure that you have enough pouches or that his gun is weirdly big enough

Cable rocks even more when YOU draw him. I know you weren't going for a blue-gray, but that blue tint works famously with the orange. Nice layout as well - You and your thirds and x's...
Keep going with this style of line art, make it as CLEAN and beautiful as possible, improving with each piece - this is a very publish-able style, yet still you.
