Hehe~ Well I was trying to prove a point that John WOULDN'T find him sexy in that. And then joked that I would find him sexy because I feel the same way John does. xD Everything about Sherlock (and the guy who plays him, smexy Benedict. UNF) is sexy~ Even if his clothing isn't!

ladyMuscles In reply to Bellavardamir [2012-09-07 03:23:42 +0000 UTC]

Oh, no. I understood your point. I was only exaggerating a bit, hah hah ^^

You know, it's funny. Originally, I found Cumberbatch to be highly unattractive. I first saw him in another role (in the movie, "Amazing Grace"). I thought he was one of the ugliest creatures that I had ever laid my eyes upon. But it wasn't until I saw him in the Sherlock role, ironically, that I began noticing his beauty (and I don't even like the character XP)

I even thought John was ugly, actor and all. But I had a turn-about because I really enjoyed how Freeman played the role. And I just have a crush on small, mousy people in general, hahhah XD

Yeah, I too was skeptical on his looks. I fell hard for him when I saw him play Sherlock, that black wavy hair that curls, that deep voice~ a-ahhn~ But when I saw some close up pics of Ben just being himself with his blonde hair I was was a bit disturbed. BUT the more I saw of him the more I began to love him and accept his beauty. Even though it is strange. His personality is ever so charming though, so I think that was the winner above all things. xDD

And yes, Martin is also strange. Though I never thought him ugly. He is so crazy in all of his roles, I can't help but love him! He is adorable~ Just wanna pinch his cheeks and ruffle his hair! x3 Haha, I think I'm broken somehow. Though obviously I am not alone on these opinions! ;u;

Wait. You mean he's not a natural brunette? I always wondered what his natural color was. I saw him in a few interviews and he had black hair. And still, I saw some red carpet-esque photos and he had blonde hair o.o Ah, sorry for rambling, but little details like hair color are a little important in how I "imagine" his beauty.

Anyway, I totally understand. Though, as far as personality goes, I...just haven't been converted yet, unlike other Cumberbatch fans. And while I didn't really notice his voice in the first role I saw him in, when I saw Sherlock, I was actually more than a little creeped out by the low pitch, hah hah ^^ It's sort of weird, though. I am always comparing Cumberbatch to Hugh Laurie. Like House = Sherlock. But House's voice was all like, RAWR! for me. And then I heard his original English accent and was all like O.O

But when I think charming, I think Hugh Laurie. Though, not in the generic "posh" and/or "witty" fashion that most other Brits get labeled under. Laurie is more like, (and this is gonna seem stupid) subtly shy and modest. That's why I go goo-goo over him. I love that reserved confidence and humility about him. It turns me to mush, lol. (sorry for that; I crush easily on older men).

Unfortunately, though, I'm not too familiar with Freeman. I've only seen him as John Watson and no one else. I was on a blog and found some fanart of BBC The Office. I think he plays one of the main characters, but I'm not so sure. Heck, I hardly watch the American version. Though, I would like to get more familiar with Freeman's roles. He really does make an adorable little Watson ^^ (mind recommending a few?)

You should check out the Russian Watson (Vitaly Solomin), too. He's very mousy (not overly so), and very bite-sized. I love him ^^ Ah, and I didn't mean to jabber away at you like this. I just never really have anyone to talk to about fandoms and those things. So a little discussion keeps me sane.

Haha! I actually don't know his true hair color. Like you, seems that every time I see him he's either blonde, brunette, black haired, and for those special occasions....a ginger! x3 (LOVE gingers~) I'm usually not one for blondes because it's too light...but like I said before, once I got to know his bouncy and very gentlemanly personality I was....as they say..."Swept off my feet".

O.O His voice was creepy?! Well...I guess I can kinda see how it is. It reminds me of Alan Rickman's voice and....oh my god...that man could send anyone to the floor with shaking legs. I have a thing for the creepy and absurd, so maybe I'm the only one who thinks these men are attractive by their personalities and voice. I do have a love for Hugh though! The first movie I ever saw him in was 101 Dalmatians and then The Borrowers. I fell in love with his accent and the way he portrayed his characters so well, though they were somewhat minor in those films. He reminds me of my Papa, so I guess it's a respectful love instead of attraction. ^w^

I like the timid, shy type as well. Usually though it's only at first but when they get to know you or do something a few times they relax and get comfortable in just fooling around. Like Tom Hiddleston. >///> That man....is the definition of "Perfection". I'm serious...there is not ONE thing I have ever found strange or wrong about him. If you don't know him, he played Loki in Thor and in The Avengers and also played Captain Nicholls in the movie War Horse (which will have you crying throughout the film if you are a softy for animals and just for life in general) He looks so soft and gentle. His eyes are always looking somewhat tenderly and he has such a soft spoken voice. Though he is not afraid to get silly, and he laughs almost all of the time! I just LOVE that!

You should get to know Martin more! He is such a good actor! Right off the top of my head of things I loved him are Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and The Office BBC. But I did like his minor roles in Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, and his roles in the show Bruiser x3 They were all a good laugh. OH! And his new role coming up as Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit (one of my favorite childhood reads). And of course....I love him as John. ;///; He does such a good job of portraying a modern take of the pair. When I was little I could only visualize him with a mustache, so it was a bit unsettling seeing John without one when I first started the series last year. BUT he grew on me because I love the actor and the way Ben and Martin act together is just...amazing. Always blows my mind. ^u^ I have loved every Sherlock adaption out there, as far as I know...except this new American take on it. Elementary I think it is called. And they didn't just take away Watson's mustache....they took away his manhood. o_o He's a woman in that show, and Sherlock is some ugly looking....ugghhh. I am very hesitant about this new show and probably wont watch it until my friends force me to. I don't recommend it.

As for the Russian version, I used to watch that when I was little! ;u; I really should watch it again! I loved it OH so much! I also like the Granada version ( The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes), and Ronald Howard's portrayal of Sherlock in Sherlock Holmes in 1954 (<) and a few more. Those were just my favorites. I do also like the movies with Robert Downy Jr. playing Sherlock and Jude Law as Watson. >u> They made them so sexy....grr.

In short...I grew up with Sherlock Holmes books, and when I would play "house" or "dress up" I was Sherlock. xD HELL! I even met one of my best friends in a improv acting class and we were thrown together at random and we decided to do a small skit about Sherlock Holmes. I can't remember is I was Sherlock or she was...but we ended up hinting of a love affair. x3 Everyone loved it! Sherlock has been a big part of my life ALL of my life, so I feel very close to him in some way.

(Oh god I'm rambling! x3 I too enjoy a lengthy conversation about the joys of fandoms and opinions! Tee hee! Hope I haven't killed your eyes with all of these words! )

Oh no, no! You haven't scared me off or killed me at all, hahhah ^^ Killing me, as I implied before, would be to block off any possible communication I have with other fandom people. So ramble away if you must, lol. I really do enjoy it ^^

You mean redheads? Sorry, I'm still getting used to the term "gingers". I think the first time I was introduced to it was on an (and I apologize for mentioning this) erotic site. I'll have to admit though, it's funny we're discussing Cumberbatch and you mentioned Tom Hiddleston because I remember seeing this photo of the two (kind of an official photo from War Horse). A member posted it on a slash fangroup on Facebook and said how hot it would be to see those two in a porno o///o

And personally, I don't think I'm really attracted to any one particular hair color. It's weird, though. I once had a teacher who was 'bleach-blonde'. And I never really thought about how much I loved her hair color until she dyed it a few shades darker, lol.

Creepy, yeah. Hahah ^^ But I'm a little hypocritical in that respect. Some deep voices are EXTREMELY alluring to me (and that includes women). While some others are a bit of a turn-off. I don't know why, but House's voice was so sexy. But when I discovered Hugh Laurie was a comedian and I saw "A Bit of Fry & Laurie", I thought his original voice was sort of...well, plain.

Honestly, I can't find Rickman's voice to be sexy. Maybe it's because of the limited amount of roles I've seen him in (all of which he was antagonistic). And the voice coupled with his characters kind of turned me off lmao. Oops ;; Not a fan of creepy things, as my hatred of horror-related things would attest, but I am a big fan of Christopher Walken, who most people seem to view as being creepy or just weird XD (he was a SUCH pretty boy when he was younger, though. Back in the 70's. I mean, if you're into high cheekbones and all, then you would've definitely love his face when he was younger. The film, Roseland, comes to mind *drools*)

Hiddleston seems like a nice guy. Though, I haven't seen Thor, The Avengers or War Horse, yet. Originally, I didn't want to see the lattermost movie. But then I heard Cumberbatch was in it, and my interested piqued. I also wanted to see Tinker Tailor for the same reason (originally, just because I'd get to see Gary Oldman and Colin Firth side-by-side...but then I heard Tom Hardy was in it, too and my brain exploded O///O)

I really do! I'm almost ashamed to not have been introduced to Freeman before I watched this months ago. Not sure if I already mentioned this, but I remember seeing Sherlock for the first time and thinking, 'THIS. This is House and Wilson. Except they're actually Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. And I love so much the way House and Wilson interact with each other. And I feel much closer to those characters than the canon/interpretations of Holmes because I haven't read the entire collection of stories to completion. So I kinda feel sometimes as if I'm in unknown territory, or as if I'm in "someone else's" fandom. But even if House = Holmes by way of influence and inspiration, I still draw the line. And seeing Freeman as John, his mannerisms, his frustrations, the subtle expressions on his face, lawd it was like looking at a carbon copy of Robert Sean Leonard as Wilson. I just, GAH! I loved it all.

Ah, and about Elementary... Well, I've seen the commercials. And the trailer, several months ago. I was discussing this with some people over at the slash fangroup I mentioned. And because I enjoy my femslash every now and again, and because I am highly anti-misogyny when it comes to yaoi and slash, I was EXTREMELY, EXTREMELY upset by the creators' decisions to both, make Watson a woman, and to not make Sherlock Holmes a lady as well. And because there's homosexual subtext there (whether other people in the fandom want to realize this or not), it almost seemes as if they're trying to heterosexualize their dynamic.
If it was, say, Sheryll Holmes and Joanne Watson (sorry for the goofiness), I would have no beef whatsoever. There would still be that almost impenetrable bond between women, sisters, intimate friends, etc. etc. But a piece of that is lost in man Holmes/lady Watson. Since in modern media, men and woman can't ever expected to be "friends" without the expectation being that they should (pardon my phrasing) fuck or be sexually involved. ALL. THE. TIME. (sorry, but I had to let all that out; I'm not against Lucy Lui at all. And I'm not against fem!Watson, but I really do wish that Holmes had come out as a woman as well. In a media context, most female/male relationships seem unbalanced to me, blah blah blah...would you like to discuss this more with me?) But I'll give Elementary a chance, and at least watch the first episode because I don't wanna be a hater lol ^^

Anyway, Martin scared me, too, without the mustache and all hahah. I'm just so used to seeing Watson with his characteristic trademark. It's almost as if Luigi stared in a game with his brother Mario and for one reason or the other, Nintendo decided to shave his 'stache. I would be devastated. But Martin is a different kind of JHW, all on his own merit, so I wasn't upset for very long ^^ And I haven't seen the Grenada version, yet. But I do know very much of it (I've seen some clips of it on YT, but discovered it via a slash fanvid). Jude Law was a fabulous Watson, I agree. I'd argue that he was the sexiest (Vitaly Solomin, probably the cutest). But yeah, everyone was sexy in that one. RDJ is sexy by default (those beautiful dark, piercing eyes OH. MY. GOD) And also Mark Strong... YUM! Even Irene Adler, but then she kinda turned out to be a stereotype, then her sexy factor flew out the window for me. My favorite was Lord Coward <3

Aww. It's nice to hear how much Doyle's character has impacted your life. I wish I could have done that, the skit and all, when I was younger. Honestly, Sherlock Holmes slipped into my life entirely by accident. Well, I think I would have discovered the series eventually. It began when I was on the hunt for slash fanfiction. I enjoyed how the writers wrote in archaic English (at the time, I wasn't really familiar with how different the language was in past years). Anyway, I read a few fics (very canonical, mind you ^^). Read some more. And was pretty much hooked. Shortly after, I saw a few films with Basil Rathbone (the most physically accurate Holmes, in my opinion...and also fiercely handsome). And then I was even more hooked. Even if the Watson was badly played, if you were already familiar with Nigel Bruce's other roles, it's very clear to see that he plays many of his characters in the same charming, but annoyingly naive way.

Oh, and when I can't find things to say, sometimes I ramble about unrelated matters, so sorry if I ignored anything you said -_-;;
