My first animation done with Toon Boom Studio. What a learning experience! I ran into some problems with certain features not being available that were needed. This time around I made due, but I have already upgraded to Animate for my next work.Related content

whats the difference between studio and animate?

As far as I know, only a few things. To me, it allows for easier clean up by allowing a layer transparency.

ive been animating with paint tool sai and windows movie maker for a really long time. using layers as frames im hoping paint tool sai plus toon boom will be a faster process lol. but as for layer transparency that might be a problem for me too D:

I actually thought this was a prop for a new movie in small view, amazing.
How where you able to keep track of the shading?

I always plan out the shading in advance. The shading is drawn on first as a simple line on the figure and filled in sections when all the shaded areas for every color have been drawn in. Β I do one color at Β time and go frame by frame until it's done.Β

I have only ever used flash.Β Β which do you prefer overall?Β Or is it too soon to say

Β For frame by frame animation, Toon Boom by far. The drawing tools are more friendly and an actual stroke from the stylus gives you what you wanted, not something that you often have to do again. I haven't tried symbol based work in it, so I can't comment on that. Β If I ever try it, I will let you know. Thanks for the feedback.
