Description
Weapon concepts for close and range combat. Some are imbued with runes of magic, such as the flaming sword and shield. Gothic and light themes were incorporated into the design. A weapon should be an extension of the character who uses it.Updated version here:

I would make the grip larger on the first one, the blade more exposed on the second one, and the blade a bit thinner on the fourth one. The ax is fine, and I assume that the staff is magic, so other than that, good designs.

Thanks you have a good idea. I pretty much agree. The second large sword blade can extend with magic.

I don't really like any explanations that use magic, but hey, your choice. I'm glad to see you take constructive criticism well. Not everybody on this website does.

Man, I really love your works (especially the weapon sets). I would like to make something like this on my own, but I don't really know how to paint a drawing with Photoshop. Maybe you could help me

Once you feel comfortable to draw on paper or traditional paints, getting a digital tablet and painting in photoshop is much easier. Plus no brush/paint clean up
Then post your work and get feedback to improve.

Thank you for the advice. My actual problem is my total unexperience on virtual coloring :/ I don't really know where to put my hands when I have a black and white drawing to color. That's my problem :<

That's a good idea to probably get comfortable with program before getting into more complicated renderings. If you google "multiply mode coloring line work in photoshop." You will get a neat trick how to set up your line work to color. A lot of people in the comic industry use that.
There's tons of methods to render in photoshop. So you probably have to explore to find the one that's right for you. Here's link to some tut's:

Some people styles are influenced by using oils, markers, or having industry designer backgrounds. Most of them had a strong traditional backgrounds before jumping into digital that really helped.

really good i dont suppose u could give advice on weapon concepts for me?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
BrianLukArt In reply to MyHerpesHurt [2011-03-11 19:23:31 +0000 UTC]
Sure,
What works for me is pumping out simple black and white silhouette/thumbnails to start. Then I polish and refine the design that sticks out the most. If I were a blacksmith, what can I do to take a normal stick into a killer weapon to take down a heavily armor knight or a sea monster. Each one would require different materials and thought for intended purpose. Have fun and do on hand research. A lot of weapons actually started as humble garden tools.

Really cool work. All are great fantasy weapons of choice! They all look like they are usable (plausable) too which is good
I'll have that scimitar please

Thanks. That's great that they look like usable weapons. Sometimes I worry about too much fantasy and not enough chopping action.

Hehe, well your weapons are definately in the realms of useable as far as fantasy goes! I could see these weapons being used in games like Guild Wars or WAR or something...
