Thank you!
I used a Hoya R72 filter on the lens. There is an advantage to using a modified IR camera, however it is still possible to make great IR photos using a filter.
The most important aspect to shooting good IR photos is to set and use a custom white balance setting on the camera.

Completely stunning piece, the IR filter really gives it a feel of being surreal.

Great reflections! You're getting a lot of great mileage out of that Hoya... you almost have me convinced to buy one myself.

You should get one, I'd love to see what you'd do with it.

I fully intend to get the R72 at some point (probably after the super-cool flexible ND filter). The only problem is that I would undoubtedly use it on my wide angle lens, which requires 77mm filters... the street price for a 77mm R72 is a tidy $260...

Yeah, thats part of the reason why I'm not going for the Nikon wide angle so I can still afford an IR for it. Theres a seller on ebay selling 77mm's for 140, and the shipping isnt too bad.

Thanks for the info. I'm not a big fan of eBay, but I'll have a look. I nearly always get my filters from The Filter Connection... their prices are competitive, and their service is impeccable. And thank you again for pushing me to give the IR arena a try!

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of ebay either, I only buy from people who have sold a lot of items and have a 90+ positive feedback. But you can get some really good deals on there and its hard for me to ignore a good deal.
