I don’t think the guard sees us, but that becomes more of a problem than a good thing as he walks toward us. Soon he’s about to step on us. If we don’t move we’re going to be found because he’s going to step on us. I take a deep, quiet breath, then roll myself over Leo’s body in one quick, smooth motion, rolling him along with me so that when I’m done we’re a few feet away from the guard. He stops and turns back in the other direction. I’m pressed up against Leo, trying not to breathe. Our mantles are tangled, spiraled together from the roll. His is black with shots of blue electricity and mine is milky-mist. Leo doesn’t make a sound but I can tell he’s as frightened as I am because I can feel his quick heartbeats. -- Julia's Journal
