Description
Launch of the Hughes/Boeing Jarvis rocket for the USAF's MLV program, powered by two surplus F-1 engines. The original Jarvis used F-1 and J-2 engines on Shuttle External Tank-derived 8.4m tanks, along with an orbital transfer stage built by Hughes on comsat heritage. After Hughes pulled out, it switched to a fully Shuttle-derived design with reusable engines and SRBs. Named for Gregory Jarvis, a Hughes employee killed in the Challenger disaster
