Description
The only thing Lexington Dolph and Spencer Lockhart could ever agree on was one simple fact: the other was completely insuffrable. From the moment they had first exchanged heated words in Rosa's gym, the two had felt a strong mutual dislike for the other. Oddly enough, if one casually glanced at the reasons the two big-mouthed brawlers did not hold one another in high esteem, one would find to nearly identical lists. Each fighter found his rival to be too loud, too arrogant, too over-confident in his appearance and abilities. They found themselves clashing several times since the first moment they stared daggers at one another and agreed to meet in the ring. Bouts of boxing and rounds of wrestling took their rivalry further and further, far past limits either man would have believed the other taking them too. Each had claimed small victories here and there, but nothing was ever settled. Each encounter only seemed to throw fuel on the fire that existed between the two.Today, however, would be different...
It began on an odd foot. Spencer needed a particular set of skills, and for all the insults the blonde heir was ready to hurl at his silver-maned rival, it was undeniable that he was the only man Spencer knew that could provide those skills. Lex was the best mind and hands when it came to gadgets and innovation, and a Lockhart needed the best. Naturally, any negotiations between the two fell through after moments of locking eyes, and it wasn't long before stakes were set, challenges were issued, and things would once again be decided in the ring.
Normally, this would be the point in the two's usual tale where they warred with all they had. Their desire to prove themselves, at last, as the superior between them. For the first time however, though they were not alone in the gym in which they clashed, they had no direct audience. The Gems kept to themselves with friends and patrons, and no one noticed the two sneak their way into the ring to wrestle. For once, the two found themselves competing with no one observing the results. How each looked to spectators was no longer a factor. There would be no witnesses to boast about this victory. Instead, the only presence joining them in the ring was each other.
Spencer began the fight as he usually did when facing the steely-haired genius. All fire and noise, determined to assert his dominance. However, in the privacy of their many submission holds, their many clinched struggles, for the first time ever he found himself holding in his snarls and insults. Concentrating on the battle at hand. Lex had always proved a powerful foe, sometimes to much so, but Spencer had never seen the challenge as anything more than a frustration or annoyance. There was no one for the petulant blowhard to impress but the man before him. As they struggled and grappled, a word came to mind that neither had ever thought to use on the other before.
Worthy.
Spencer felt warmth in his body that had presented itself in other fights but never vs. the admittedly handsome foe before him, but he shoved that notion aside as he worked overtime trying to establish control over the various situations the two wrestled themselves into.
What followed was one of their most intense battles ever. It truly tested the endurance of both lads in the ring. Though Spencer had never been so completely exhausted after a bout with a rival, he had also never shared a smile with Lex before either. This is not to say the two left the ring to get matching tattoos and braid one another's hair, but for the first time the "petulant annoyance" and the "loudmouth know-it-all" finally beat the respect out of one another.
