It's all about precision. The first drop is larger than the second. And then it's just about getting everything else exactly right
The mathematics is something like this: x = Β½ atΒ²
x = the distance traveled
a = acceleration constant of gravity, 32 ft/second2 for a result in feet, or 9.8 m/second2 for meters.
