Description One of the most common dreams across cultures. I personally have never had a teeth falling out dream, but I have had one where my teeth were rotten and jagged like mossy rocks. Yuck!

This is a monoprint. I mono-typed one layer by applying ink with a roller/brayer and then printing an intaglio selective wipe layer over that.

I've had it - where my teeth turned to chalk and dissolved.Β  Also had a bunch of hypnagogic dreams.

lots of people have. It's one of the most common dreams. usually there are subtle variations/contexts. How did yours go?

I don't remember much of it. I think I was walking around and then I spat out some teeth. I think some of them looked like fangs. My teeth were hurting also. Though to tell the truth I had a few cavities then.

Hello, after a long search, I found this image and I was impressed.
I wonder what was your motivation to do it. I'ma dentist here in Brazil and would like to cite an image in this work.
Send me the references if you do not mind! Now the image. Wait. Thank you, Natalia

Hello there, and thank you for your kind words.
It is based on the common dream people have where their teeth fall out.
Although not about dental health specifically I would not mind if it were used for such purposes, so feel completely free to do so (^_^). I did not use any references for this specific image.

Hi, I thank him once again! Will use it in a work of completion of college. Handed me a message of fear, despair over the loss of teeth, and I was really delighted with the figure. Here in Brazil, to the letter, translating the nick, I have something like "seed that blooms, " So tell me, is this the same meaning? To cite him as author of ... And congratulations! Hugs. ps. Just entered the blog in order to contact you ... So do not mind having nothing on my page, but if you want to add me on facebook, I would not mind

You're welcome. I'm glad I could be helpful.

Yes, very simply the name could mean 'seed that blooms' but there's a more complicated meaning that involves life/beauty blooming after death/destruction. I chose it as a name because of the lyric of a song... "If I'm a crown without a king, if I'm a broken open seed, if I have come without a thing... then I have come with all I need."
The song is: A Sweater Poorly Knit.
The band is: MeWithoutYou.

I think I will add you on facebook. Is your user name here the name I would search for?

Thank's!! is a very nice and interesting explanation to the nick name.
Would be funny know you better, so far and so closer...
In facebook, search for NatΓ‘lia Bicalho Borges.

And I liked so much the song...

Very expressive. My family always told me to dream of teeth falling out was a bad omen.

Thank you. I wouldn't put much stock in the bad omen thing. More than likely just indicates some stress.

I have had this dream. It's supposed to mean that you feel like you have lost control.
Love your prints!

Depending on which source you check, it may mean many different things. It is typically agreed that it means some sort of stress in ones life though.

Excellent work! I had some dreams where my teeth fell out before. Interesting kind of dreams. My favorite type of dreams are the flying kind.

you mean I'm not the only one to have this dream? I have that dream a lot but have no clue what it means

Brokenopenseed In reply to Mallenroh001 [2010-10-25 02:52:28 +0000 UTC]

You're totally not the only one. This is one of the most common dreams world-wide (along with flying, falling, being chased, being out of control) As to 'what it means' probably probably differs greatly from person to person, but is typically thought to indicate some sort of vague worry or stress in someones life.

I don't dream much but it's one of the most recurring dreams I do have

This is pretty awesome, the man's left hand seems a little weird though. I never had a dream about that, but I had worse D:

Thanks. Yeah, when I'm illustrating dreams I don't get too hung up on details and accuracy because dreams are riddled with distortions.

How often do you have this type of dream?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tomwaitsdk In reply to Brokenopenseed [2010-10-19 17:06:32 +0000 UTC]

hmm... It depends, usually one per monh I would say but sometimes twice or more in a week when I feel really bad. The teeth are missing, falling, moving in the jaw, small, black... I'm quite obsessed with hygiene but perhaps the cause of those nightmares is different

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Brokenopenseed In reply to Tomwaitsdk [2010-10-19 20:32:22 +0000 UTC]

Thats interesting. It's a common dream, but I feel like it's uncommon to have it so frequently.

My guess would be that the cause of the dream is unrelated to hygiene, but the imagery make up of the dream is because you think about it often.

Tomwaitsdk In reply to Brokenopenseed [2010-10-19 21:02:55 +0000 UTC]

yes I agree with you for your hypothesis. But I am someone quite stressed and I make most of the time nightmares. Teeth are one of the recurrent dreams, as being disabled, blind...
