Nope. At one point the stinger was up against her, but I'm guessing the exo-skeleton acts as armor enough for that. Just before this pic was taken she was eating the stinger whole.

It was a tag team effort. I perched the mantis on my hand, then hovered him in front of some yellow jackets who were zipping around our juice at a picnic. He caught it, I held him up and my friend snapped the pic.

Would you say it was more skill, or luck, or both to get this shot? My girlfriend recently got a great shot of a brown mantis with green eyes! he was climbing up a sunflower, and I was holding other sunflowers out of the way, and at the right moment he looked at her, and I told her "he's looking right at you", and she got the shot! Her name on here is PhotoNutz46. The photo I'm talking about is at this [link] Again, a great shot!
