Topic was to create something surreal...

So, after making and discarding quite a couple of sketches this is what I could come up last night... long work and listening to Joy Devision all the time (that kept me awake)...

The starting point was about a person who is wandering through an endless maze, and perhaps not seeing the light at the end of the tunnels, until facing the appearance of a large eye in the sky (?) which upon venturing closer turns out to be something organic, drawing the wanderer nearer, whilst the maze around dissolves. The eye then disappears and instead a gateway appears. It was now the task to draw what the person sees next...

There was a multitude of ideas coming to my mind when contemplating the topic, like perhaps total blackness, or well, whatever... but then I ended up with a try to just picture the situation and a possibility of becoming free from the 'maze'...

I had a really good time drawing this, felt inspired also by Tiamat's trip to China and I guess the result is sort of a combination of many impressions.
