It's fucking hilarious how Zero ended up being the best character in the game, and was considered high tier even when this pic was made.  Same with Taskmaster.

Geno didn't know his shit when commissioning this, that's for sure.

I though there we're no Mega Man characters in MvC3.

Let me know when MvC becomes as easy to master as SSBB.

And last time I checked Wolverine wasn't overpowered. You might have just been spammed with Swiss Cheese and Berserker Barrage.

Come to think of it, I recently noticed CAPCOM had managed to sneak in 3 of the secret characters from the first Marvel vs Capcom...

Lilith Morrigan and Shadow Lady Chun Li are kind of a give away, but that all golden Iron Man is kind of like the Golden War Machine!

And it's pretty fun using them all 3.

I'm glad I don't give a damn about Tiers, I just enjoy all the characters!

I quite like playing as Sentinel, if only because i like hearing him yell "AIR RAID." When he attacks. Also, because one of his attacks appears to be opening the CD tray in his knee to hit people in the face.

...im gonna go ahead and admit i just buttonmash when i'm playing. Heh.

waraulol [2011-10-08 05:14:36 +0000 UTC]

Huh. Winning is winning.

The game only acknowledges whether you win or you lose. It never cares about how cheap you are, or how suck you are in gameplay. So well, playing cheap is nothing against the law.

But of course, I'm not against nerfs (or buffs) as long as it's appropriate.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Bladebrent In reply to waraulol [2011-10-09 21:45:52 +0000 UTC]

playing cheap isnt against the law, but its still unfair to the other player, your just ruining the fun for the opponent if you be cheap. Playing Fairly is probably more fun anyways.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

waraulol In reply to Bladebrent [2011-10-10 00:09:23 +0000 UTC]

What "more fun" is depends on the players themselves, you know.

Personally I like to play fair to some degree, but when the opponent is hard enough, I'm resorting to play cheap.

And sometimes, some people are okay when being beaten by a cheap player. Really, it's all about mentality.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Bladebrent In reply to waraulol [2011-10-10 01:40:49 +0000 UTC]

meh, sounds fair enough. least your not playing cheap against everyone just to get wins. I dont see how you could be happy about being beaten by someone who was playing unfairly but whatever

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

waraulol In reply to Bladebrent [2011-10-10 01:50:17 +0000 UTC]

"I dont see how you could be happy about being beaten by someone who was playing unfairly but whatever"

A guy like that probably has a mentality like this: "If I cannot beat a cheap guy like him, it's because I don't train myself enough." Of course, a guy like that is rare.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Bladebrent In reply to waraulol [2011-10-10 05:38:41 +0000 UTC]

I can see someone thinking that way if they were fighting a legitimately good player, but not if someone's playing cheaply. Maybe if they've seen someone beat someone using the same strategy, or like "Im going to prove Im better then a cheap player like that by having a training montage" but if I dont have the mentality, then its going to be really difficult for me to understand it so whatever

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

waraulol In reply to Bladebrent [2011-10-10 08:19:47 +0000 UTC]

Of course, not all people have that mentality, and that mentality isn't a must anyway.

damoser [2011-10-08 04:37:13 +0000 UTC]

a true player wins with whomever he see fit, and doesn't complain when losing to a superior player, regardless of how "cheap" their tactics may or may not be. if you're good enough cheap tactics make no difference.

i know it's not your opinion stated in this picture, but i thought i'd state mine anyways.

moral is- quit yer bitchin and try not to suck it up so much, cuz then you won't have anything to bitch about.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Bladebrent In reply to damoser [2011-10-09 21:49:26 +0000 UTC]

The Idea of a "Cheap Tactic" is to make it unfair, usually so that the enemy cant fight back. True, if your good enough, Cheap Tactics make no difference, but that depends on the game. BlazBlue, you dont have to be too good to avoid people spamming Nu's or Tao's Drive. MvC3, cheap tactics are alot more effective.

damoser In reply to Bladebrent [2011-10-10 06:52:53 +0000 UTC]

i just hate the "you can't use that character because whine whine whine" reaction to losing. my brother used to pull it all the time on tekken, so i got good with everyone, randomly chose my character, and beat him with whomever, whilst he stuck with king, because he couldn't play with anyone else.

i still used random to this day, on all the fighting games i play, and still win over half the games i play. and when playing with my best characters almost never lose. and when the opponent beats me several times with the same person i just use that opportunity to learn their style and start winning. that's what fighting games are about. not caveats as to who's allowed to used whom, but winning with whoever you can, however you can. those who can't win need to stop whining, and learn how to defend against their weak spots.

Bladebrent In reply to damoser [2011-10-10 22:34:11 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, wow, that sounds pretty cool. You sound like your really good at fighting games. However, Cheap tactics are like spamming the combo loops, or Projectiles or just doing the same cheap move over and over again so your not playing fairly. How your making it sound is someone who is legitimately better then you defeating you, who just so happens to use the same character over and over. The character itself can be balanced to everyone else, even weaker except have a cheap move or combo he can spam. Sentinel was an over-powered character in MvC3 but that doesnt mean there werent other characters who usually are played Fairly, but some people exploit a cheap tactic that that character happens to have.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

damoser In reply to Bladebrent [2011-10-11 09:21:57 +0000 UTC]

you're correct, that is part of what i meant. but i also meant legitimately cheap tactics, like projectiles. thing is they're all pretty easy to block or dodge. patience is a virtue after after all. i've never played someone cheap who doesn't get tired of not getting anywhere because you're blocking or dodging everything, then they rush you and you take advantage of it.

i just mentioned the "you can't use that character anymore" complaint cuz it's essentially the same complaint. in the very first tekken, learned michelle through and through, and got so good with her that i was unbeatable, amongst my small group of friends. so everyone threw a fit about it, and insisted i change, so then i just learned everyone as well as i could, and only won most the time.

there are a few really in depth games, like virtua fighter, that make limiting yourself to just a few characters essential to being decent, but i still tend to learn most the moves for anyone just for the sake of knowing how to defend against them properly.

and, no i'm not that great. i'm very much out of practice on fighters. i've only played my copy of MvC3 once so far. i just don't have the time anymore. in fact, during that time, i think my best combo was like 42 hits or something, which is pathetic considering i used to do 50+ with chun li alone in street fighter ex 3, at least i think it was that game.

along the lines of weaker characters, just a side point, one of my previous roommates introduced me to smash bros. destroyed me often early on, then eventually tried to ban me from using kirby, pikachu, yoshi and peach, because i could beat him as marth 90% in a 4 player match and 100% one on one with them, and it just pissed him off to no end. that was fun!

Bladebrent In reply to damoser [2011-10-11 23:54:00 +0000 UTC]

hehe, sounds like fun. If you can play as multiple characters then your still better then me. I havent played that many Fighting games. BlazBlue is a fun game but besides that.

If Patience is a virtue then spamming techniques (which btw, some can be easier to land or get into then others based on the game) can still be effective since most games dont have your completely immune to damage when blocking or at least limit the ammount of guarding you can do. Then again, I can see people getting bored or annoyed from the technique being constantly used anyways.

Doesnt it get annoying when you talk to someone over comments and then you accidentally make a really long comment and your like "holy crap, how did I write so much?"
