Just an idea I got a few days ago, and finally got around to making it. Originally it was supposed to look like a game case cover, but I figured that this would look a little better this way.All of the characters shown (save for Croco) © Nintendo

If someone wrote a fanfiction of this, I'd definitely read it. But let's see if I can add more to it. The Koopas are good here, and Peach seems to have been substituted into Cackletta's role. Since Mario is Bowser's main rival, I suppose that he'd be the antagonist that grudgingly worked with Red and Green (let's refer to the two Hammer Bros as that). Peach-hee-hee seems to have stolen Bowser's voice, so Red is setting off to join Mario and his Toad Troopers to get it back, flying to Mallet Kingdom to give chase, but not before royal adviser Kamek gives a handy suitcase (and a tutorial on how to use it).
With Green swept up in the boarding Toads, the two bros are flying on Mario's airship to Mallet Land, and run into trouble from Vileworth. Story goes on from there, and here are some other potential characters:
Popple: Luigi (It works, since he temporarily works with Mario and is a dirty coward instead of his usual lovable coward nature.)
Birdo: Yoshi (Male dinosaur to substitute male voice; also winds up working with Luigi)
Not sure what else to do there. Anybody who wants to take it up, the rest is up to you, and even the above are optional. If anybody does, please send me a reply with the link

Peach up there was a good idea, but if this was a game, Peach wouldn't be the last boss, she would be the one to 'be saved', Luigi would be the semi-final boss and Mario would be the final boss.
