The detail work on the screen door is amazing. Β Very accurate as well. Β The lace on her blouse is pretty mind-blowing too. Β Excellent work for a relatively small piece. (32x20 in American speak)

Thank you and I think I've found it's easier to get more detail in on a smaller piece, probably because I don't lose interest as quick as I would working on something big.

Well, you never went for the easy stuff anyway.
Some of your latest production allows for moodier tones.
This one has this definite "city" feel about it which is rendered beautifully in the details you have here. I know that's not the case, but it comes out strongly.
Another aspect I find very interesting, is the way you are exploring a specific situation through different angles and moods. It seems to define a series of its own within your work. And it shows in each of the paintings concerned, as a strong undercurrent. A kind of potency which sets them apart from the purely aesthetically pleasing, opening on a more personal dimension, both for the author and the spectators. There are emotions at stake here. And you are conveying them through apparently innocuous situations.
Very endearing and moving. The penultimate painting.

Thank you and yes this series I've been working on for my upcoming show is a short, simple narrative when the paintings are placed together, it was my intent to explore the idea of having paintings on their own, but once hung together, show a story like a comicbook strip or a storyboard.
I've started simple with only 5 paintings, basically just looking at the idea of a girl starting off inside, then making her way to the roof to view the sunset/sunrise - which I wanted to be sort of symbolic of needing a change of scene, or the start of something new, whether that be of a new state of mind or an experience. There is personal reasons behind it but I do prefer to leave it open for interpretation.

That is always the case anyway. We all interpret and project our own.
But your intent was clear and very well rendered. Didn't want to be as explicit as you are now, not wanting to intrude or force your hand.
That is why I was commending your mood rendering. As they very subtly yet distinctly express your intent.
As I wrote, it is quite moving and powerful. It gives a very nice balance to the previous (exquisite) paintings, and should (at least I strongly believe so) attract and endear a new public, more sensitive to this long standing vein in painting.
