Even though I knew this never happened in the show, when I saw Tak the hideous new girl I always imagined that Gaz wanted to stop Tak's plans as revenge for stealing her boyfriend.

Plus, in the commentaries for the episode, it was revealed that "Gaz is ZIM's potential love interest". Also, ZIM and Tak are enemies. They would rather kill each other than be paired off. That's why in the finale, we have Dib, Tak (returning as villain of "Day of the Spookies"), and the combined Meekrob and Resisty forces against ZIM, Gaz, Skoodge, Larb, Zita, and Tenn. Tenn gets abducted by the Meekrob prompting a rescue mission. In the final battle, there is a vision of Dib destroying all Irken life. Now, whether this is Dib or ZIM's thinking is up in the air, but just as things look bleakest for the Irken race, a hooded figure emerges from the shadows with only her amber eyes visible and tells ZIM to keep fighting. This pep talk somehow leads to ZIM becoming an unlikely hero of his people, saving them from mass genocide. As a result, the incompetent Red and Purple are replaced as rulers, Dib's remaining allies (Tak included) are banished with him to the most remote corners of planet Saturn, and that hooded figure - who reveals herself to be Gaz - joins ZIM on Irk as the new rulers, with ZIM as either the new Tallest (he using his new found knowledge of humanity's beauty to grow to appropriate height) or the first-ever Almighty Smallest and Gaz as his Queen Consort (or as she would prefer, his Empress, as she would be the one wielding all the power, because she's the smartest character in the entire show - as confirmed by creator Jhonen Vasquez and Melissa Fahn herself - and because she's the one character whom everyone fears (even ZIM begrudgingly, as shown in Future Dib and Rise of Zitboy, for two in-show examples). Given his former position as a Foodcourtia worker, new ruler ZIM could commission to convert the Irken eatery to a chain akin to Bloaty's Pizza Hog to appease his Queen.
