Description
More freaky historic characters :3Oda Nobunaga (1534-1582)
Remeber the game's big title is Nobunaga's ambition. yup, that's the nobunaga guy. When he was young, he was considered a freak and a fool. He was called "the Fox Lord" because he was able to make a fox ride a running horse. And he always wear like a scarecrow, and perform befor his understrappers. Despite all odds, he was a real strategist, an open-minded lord. He won a battle with only 3,000 infantry agaist a 70,000 corps. He was one of those who had first mastered mordern gun industry. And he was the very first one who dares to challenge the feudality. He wanted to "reunite Japan, so that there will be no wars and no lords". But just when his ideality was becoming ture, he was betrayed by one of his following, Akechi Mitsehide (who might be the next one I would draw), and died in an ambush. The text in the picture is his famous words:
A mortal has a life-span of 50. Compare to the other things in the world, it is short as dreams, as illusion. So everyone must face his death.
And I added some character introduction in World's Revolution Portrait 01 . Check it out if you are intrested.
Well about the picture itself....
I hafta say that I'm really lacking of the controling of a real brush X.x

great pencil drawing, really cool character too. I think it would have been cool if the japanese was hand drawn as well

Oy, I know him from Kenshin. Wasn't he some sort of wild guitar-playing eccentric?
Nice dignified expression and scruffy linework.

Nah, it's Takasugi... not Nobunaga :3 Think Kenshin lives in the world 400 years later than him :3

Great use of the crosshatching! I think your brush control is pretty good I like the almost 3/4, almost profile view of his face and torso.

In many mangas I read, there's alot of which has historical (like ninja age, or stuff), Nobunaga Oda is the major person "to blame" for the extinction main character's clan.
In other side, I found a great manga that tells Nobunaga's heroism. Kinda good, the artwork reminds me a lot to " Hokuto no Ken"
Back to da point, you're great to color sketchy-like. Looks so historical.

Yup, Nobunaga was always described as a bad guy, and maybe I'll told the reasons in some next portraits :3

I haven't done much research into Feudal Japanese history, but that name sounds so familiar.... *starts pawing through his history texts* he didn't happen to be mentioned in the novel Shogun did he? *goes back to searching* I hate it when this happens.
As for the picture. It looks great, I love how you created such interesting textures and movement with your lines. The pattern and colors on his cloak contrast nicely with the cold metals of his armor.

Yup, maybe he's the most wellknown Japanese for the westerners
