Description Finally getting ready to launch my joint DreamcatcherOCT  entry with veyn  !

Personality: It's pretty easy to write Erin off as an archetypical teenage delinquent/punk, if a generally nonmalicious one. She's definitely at least a little invested in cultivating that image. On a good day (and she is currently having a very good day) Erin is boisterous, crass, informal and just a little bit cocky, without much patience for putting a lot of thought into things and a preference for seeing where her impulses take her. She tends to give the impression of trying to look significantly more standoffish than she actually is - Erin runs her mouth a lot and is more likely to compete with or amiably trash talk people she likes like than straightforwardly communicate fondness for them, but she pretty obviously enjoys social contact when she’s having it, and for someone who talks so much trash she seeks it out surprisingly often. She’s also extremely ballsy -- the kind of person who sails through dangerous situations and encounters that one should theoretically be worried about powered by sheer bellicosity.

On bad days (and as of about half a week ago most of her days had been bad ones) Erin closes up significantly, becoming a lot more private, and more genuinely prickly and hostile when bothered. This can come as a bit of a nasty surprise for people who’ve only seen Erin when she’s comfortable -- while she’s generally abrasive in a friendly, good-tempered way, She’s capable of being downright mean when she’s in a bad mood, and it doesn’t help that those same people usually don’t expect what tends to upset her. For someone as reckless as she can be, Erin gets emotionally and socially anxious surprisingly easily. While physical crises usually don’t scare her much, highly charged emotional situations (or even the prospect of such) can throw her off her game very badly. An armed mugger is more likely to get an attempt at heroism from Erin than any real panic, but face her with the prospect of losing a relationship she values and she’ll start making stupid, anxiety fueled decisions. Combine this with Erin's tendency to posture as a takes-no-shit badass and you get a history of self sabotage, where Erin will inadvertently do something to fuck up a relationship, panic, and start pushing the person away out of fear of doing more damage without ever doing anything to communicate that she Isn’t just being calculatedly hostile. As a result, the prospect of being hated is something she both deeply fears and to some extent expects.

The other big hole in Erin’s bravado is anything having to do with her bond - outside of a very basic idea of how to manifest Bones’ features Erin has no idea what she’s apparently permanently tied herself to, exactly how much power it has over her or what exactly the entity's endgame is (and if she'll survive it). Combine this with lucid nightmares involving Bones every night and it's a harrowing subject for her, one she’d prefer not to think about entirely. As of entering the DHQ, Erin's convinced herself that Bones can't reach her there, and is unwinding and enjoying her powers without thinking with an enthusiasm possibly bordering on desperation.

Powers, Expanded: As a result of this bond, Erin can manifest some of Bones’ physical qualities at will. In addition to manifesting physical features Erin doesn't have like claws or whatnot, a manifestation affecting a preexisting part of her body significantly enhances the strength of that part. This channeling isn't really an exact science -- Erin doesn't have a complete enough understanding of Bones to know every attribute of its she could channel, assuming it even has a consistent enough form for that to be possible. Instead Erin channels with general goals in mind, like ‘hit harder’ or ‘move faster’ or ‘get up to that place I can’t reach’, and this results in her manifesting attributes that meet those needs. Through a bit of trial and error Erin's developed a small handful of attributes she can reliably channel and mostly sticks to these.

Claws (arms): Erin's general favorite. She’s not entirely comfortable with how potentially lethal the claws themselves are, but gets a lot of use out of the enhanced strength in her arms. She’s also fond of finding creative uses for the claws: climbing, cutting through inanimate obstacles, blocking sharp things, etc.

Foot Claws (legs): Generally used when she needs the enhanced leg strength for speed or jumping height. She's stopped wearing shoes since this one tends to shred them anyway

Wings: Work like you would expect wings to work.

Teeth (face): Mostly good for showing off, spooking people and opening particularly uncooperative bags.

In addition to their obvious qualities (wings can fly, teeth and claws are sharp) all of these manifestations also have strength fairly beyond human levels (though understated as super strength goes - more like a tiger or a lion than Superman).

Until recently, doing any of this involved several seconds of intense concentration and caused excruciating pain, and the bond caused caused intense perpetual nightmares (featuring Bones as her persecutor). Now that Erin’s in the DHQ the channeling Bones causes no pain, she can do it more or less on a whim, and the nightmares seem to be out of the picture. She’s not entirely sure why any of this is the case, but it's a big part of why she's in such a good mood about the DHQ.

Important Notes:

Despite her current situation, the supernatural is not at all commonplace in Erin’s universe -- aside from the occasional all-myths-are true outlier, Erin basically lives in actual real San Diego on actual real earth. Magic, monsters and other strangeness are likely to be met with enthusiastic interest, confusion or horror based on what exactly a going on.

Erin's powers aren't entirely visually consistent - while manifestations always are composed of stylized white shapes surrounded by an aura of darkness and their functions don't really change, the exact details of their appearance aren't set in stone. Essentially, if you want to come up with your own visual interpretation go right ahead.

Regarding one of the more bizarre items in her inventory -- Croton sap is a bloodlike sap occasionally used in occult rituals. Erin purchased it for that purpose, and is currently hanging onto it for...sentimental reasons.
