Oh hey, I'll be needing to build this model for a short movie project and I have a few questions.
Was the opening system of the doors provided in the model or did you make it yourself? If yes, how did you do please?
Same question fot the rotating wheels.
Feels great to browse your old deviations!

A movie, that's exciting!
Okay, I'll help but I want my name appears on a huge illuminated marquee .
There're many modifications I made that the original model doesn't have. The most obvious are the LEDs and the doors.
It's an extensive process difficult to explain in a single message tho .
The doors: I had to cut out the doors so I could open and close them. I used a hinge system based on paper clamps and I used a small metal rod to make it rotate .
Here're some pictures so you can observe the entire construction process:

(Sorry before there wasn't so much advertising on that stock photo site )

It feels good to remember my best times, thank you for sharing these memories

Yeah, we're doing a "sweded" version of Back To The Future II (Check what is sweded here if you don't know what it is) and to make a low-budget DeLorean, papercraft is a great choice, don't you think?
Woooow, it feels soo complicated looking at your pictures!! But I understand how you made it, I might be doing the same thing with toothpicks as it's all I have...
I'm sorry to ask again but I can't see it well in the pictures, how did you make the rotating system for the wheels?
Anyway, it's you I should thank for sharing these memories, this is truly a masterpiece you should be proud of, and I hope you are!!
Thanks again for all of these pictures, these are AMAZING!!

Oh thanks for the explanation, I didn't know what "sweded" means

Mmmm I don't think a toothpick is very useful,  this can get stuck with the paper . If you don't have a metal rod it is better to use a plastic tube, like those of the lolipops, or the ink tube of a pen .

The rotation system is like a quarter of a square donut (I don't how to explain it) is hollow to pass the Led's wires
It's something like this corner shapes: guiamexico.com.mx/Imagenes/b/2…
One side is attached to the rim and the other side has a flange that is attached to the chassis, as the base of the image. Obviously the chassis has a square hole just to let this one fourth donut pass inside.

I'm certainly proud of this gem of my collection , it took me about 1 week just for planning, designing, adapting, and making calculations for the circuit. And only 1 full month to forced marches to start building and painting it

The post I made in my old papercraf forum was very detailed in description of the construction, but now that it has disappeared, all the information has been lost

Mmmh, yeah, I completely understand your system now, thank you, I'll see what I can do!
And thanks for the advice, now I'll have to buy lollipops for professionnal reasons!
Damn, this long... I will just build it so it might take a lil less time for me. ^^
Don't know yet if I'll be adding the wires but that would be a nice finish, I'll see.
And it's such a shame.. I don't know why papercraft websites are so unstable, I saw lots of models and things disappear since I began papercraft.

"professional reasons" yeah sure! Just be careful with the sugar hangover

Yeah all the modifications I made took a lot of time , but if you only build like the original model will not take you more than a week and a half, maybe less .
The visible cables are only for aesthetic detail, these really don't have function , the whole circuit is hidden inside chassis.

In our case, the disappearance of the forum was due to budget reasons , we had to pay for hosting the site and the administrator couldn't continue to fund it .
And speaking of forums, what would you think if we founded a papercraft group here in DA and start a more solid community of papercrafters?
Would you like to help me manage that group?
