A representation of the Dueling Dinosaurs...just a little differentGoing for the assumption that ceratopsians, with their strong jaws and beaks, could be omnivores, I represented Protoceratops as a very fierce animal, with pointy quills and inflatable nose, used to scare away other animals from their kills. However, the animal he's charging, Velociraptor, doesn't seem so happy about that...

So the Velociraptor attacked it to defend the kill?
But I donβt see Velociraptor trying to engage a ceratopsian that starts the fight, it would run. IMO the only way this fight makes sense is if the raptor starts it, because if either of these dinosaurs are going to retaliate against the other and result in that tangled mess, itβs the ceratopsian.

Maybe the Velociraptor was desperate, today desperate animals do desperate things, or maybe the Protoceratops went straight to attack Velociraptor biting his arm, so that it had to defend himself...
